  2. We had Apologia and we kept the textbooks because they are good to just read and/or for reference but we made the switch to ES. We like it, it fits us better, using the different books, an experiment and a few notebooking pages. I think it might use it again in the future, perhaps together somehow....HTH.
  3. We use LoF as a supplement as well, my son asks for it -- even after math time is "up". He loves it. So, I plan to continue, we just read a chapter together and sometimes we do the work orally or written, just depends. We like it, he thinks it's great silliness. I like that it speaks to a lot of different math topics.

  5. I use Arm and Hammer, I used to use Tide but it felt so expensive, even with coupons. I tried it, I didn't notice a difference and it works and it's significantly less expensive. :)
  6. I am new here but I need some more accountability. I am going to go to the gym today and walk/jog 30 minutes (however far that takes me). Usually, (what I was doing before I gained 15lbs) was: MW: Spin 530am-630am F: Pilates 530am-630am TTh: Jog/walk/elliptical 530am-630am I try to go swimming with the kids once/twice a week. I find if I do not get up and get out of the house before my husband has to go to work or the kids wake up it just doesn't get done. I am going to PROBABLY start doing some yoga as well...we shall see. Hopeful.
  7. It's true. Although, we haven't had this experience because we usually live on such a small base or in another country that we don't even have street names --- seriously. :) Maybe people do it so they don't feel as guilty for building there, it makes them feel nostalgic perhaps.
  8. I loved this book. I haven't finished it yet but I have found myself highlighting, bookmarking, nodding, agreeing, a lot. I have a very similar philosophy. I 1) How many parks are in your area? There are about 5 in about a 30 minute drive to include the beach. If you drive another 30 minutes there are mountainous regions with snow and hiking. 2) How is land used in your area? No idea really. We live in Japan and it seems that the Japanese really enjoy natural beauty and that is nice but they prefer, or so it seems, that the natural things just be observed not so much played on or with. I think it's more for observation. There are small plots of land for "back yards" however, when you go out from the city there is a lot of farming in Japan. It is a good mix of city and country I suppose or so it seems. 3) How much do you let your kids do crazy things in nature? I do....I want them to have the experience of climbing a tree or going up the side of a mountain without a trail....I like it. I once had an experience where my son was climbing a tree and a woman (who apparently didn't know I was his mother) started telling him to get down and that it was dangerous. She started asking, "where is his mother, whose child is this?" and I turned and told her I was and she told me he was climbing the tree and I said, "I know and I am fine with that." She replied... "well... okay." I laughed later. Heaven forbid that a boy climb a tree at a CHILDREN'S OUTDOOR GATHERING! Anyways, I try to be cautious and teach my children that it is okay to have fun and be adventurous you should still practice prudence and wisdom. Calculate the costs, weigh the risks. My son says he wants to be the next Man Vs. Wild. Ha. Recently we went on a hike to see a castle that used to stand in the city which we live during the early years of Japan and we went UP an unmarked path and before we got to the top when we could stop hearing the water below and the cars on the bridge I asked that we just sit. Sit, listen, look, then we closed our eyes and just listened and felt the ground with hands. It was nice. We heard birds, the wind through the branches. After we chose which trees were our favorites and tried to find some plant life that we knew. It was nice. I enjoy experiences like this one. We also go to the same place in the Spring because it is CRAWLING with tadpoles and we collect a few and study the ones in the ponds and creek beds. I let my kids jump in and go with them and just tell them to be careful. We have collected caterpillars in our garden and we watched them go through their changes and then set them free once that became butterflies or moths. It was so nice. We would wake up each morning and just stare at them...I loved it. We also try to garden and let the kids water, pick things, and even choose some of the veggies to go in the garden. I wish that we had more access to nature --- in an unplanned nature environment. I like the parks we have nearby but I do crave a place perhaps untouched. We also have to get in the car or bike about 15 minutes to the nearest area. So, it's just not the same in it being RIGHT outside. Overall, the book so far as I have not completed it yet is a great reminder of the importance of nature in our children's lives. Even playing outside and making up games with friends. My son is outside making "battle plans" after his school day for his friends, they bike race, tag, hide and seek, climbing trees, and play soccer together, for HOURS. Like I did growing up, I love it. It's so nice to see. We try to incorporate nature study. I remind myself that it doesn't have to be perfect that I just want them to be exposed and understand that nature should be studied, appreciated, and treasured. :) I am rambling now... :)
  9. Definitely, CAPTAIN AMERICA, maybe because my husband is in the military. ;) I have always liked his story and next would be The Hulk.
  10. I have heard this as well. I COMPLETELY agree. I can tell within a few days if my diet is not so great because of my middle section. I have heard that abs are more about diet and good cardio than core work and in my experience, it's pretty true.
  11. I will join you, I need to seriously alter my diet, and find my stomach again. Never really been a problem until after my 3rd child and it just isn't budging now. I KNOW it's because I need to cut some things out of my life....I will have to check out the 200 sit up challenge but I think I might be joining in. :) What do you use for LCHF ---- recipes, books, etc?
  12. We use Tax Slayer for free because my husband is an active military member, it takes all of 15 minutes...no biggie.
  13. I have a US debit card attached to my account and from what it looks like I will be able to get it. I live on a military installation so my provider is an American internet company as well....I am not sure but maybe it would be different. Thanks for letting me know, I will need to check into it further.
  14. Thanks again guys! You have been very helpful. So, do you use Kindle Fire or just Kindle? I think I would use the video streaming so do I have to have a Fire for that?
  15. Wow, thank you guys! :) This is very helpful. We live in Japan and order several times a month, more than I would even want to admit. I suppose it would be helpful, although, I am not sure we would get things in 2 days. ;) Also, does the regular Kindle support streaming? How do you get streaming of the videos on your T.V.? Thanks again. I think I shall try it out.
  16. I admit that I ate a lot of fast food and/or junk food while pregnant and I don't feel guilty about that- my baby was and is fine. I voted for this. 1st - after the first few months I ate Sonic, Taco Bell, and whatever I wanted to include Mexican food almost everyday, soda, etc....he was completely fine. 2nd - tried to be healthier but craved nothing really so pretty much ate my normal fare.... she was completely fine. 3rd - a mix bag of the other two, indulging occasionally but overall not too bad.... she was completely fine.
  17. My title states the question....is it worth it? It's basically $6.59 a month, doesn't seem that bad but what are the benefits.
  18. Ok- wait! This might be a silly question but can you rent e-books? No, right? Hm....?
  19. Wait, one more question, can you rent ebooks? That may be a very silly question...just wondering...?
  20. Thank you for your input, I might just take the plunge! :)
  21. Thanks for the help. I think I just might take the plunge! :)
