  1. Sadly, Kris... I think it is when you are 26 that you realize maybe you don't know everything..... :tongue_smilie:
  2. Happy early birthday, Sophia. I voted. :) I am 26. :)
  3. For anyone that was following along in regards to Clayton County, Georgia. They just lost their SACS accreditation. :( I feel so badly for the students caught in the middle of this. :(
  4. Those are all wonderful points! Thank you. :) I would like to thank everyone. I have quite a bit of info to chew on now. :)
  5. Thanks for all the advice! I was hitting a mind block for some reason on this topic! :)
  6. I get that you are saying you will return it, but please PLEASE make sure all taxes and everything else is current at the time. Before you send back the form. The owners will understand completely, and hopefully will only be frustrated with the company's mistake.......
  7. We always do something REALLY fun that the kiddos in ps can't do, ie: swimming, park, shopping, etc...
  8. I have had similar problems with PPL and have stopped using them completely. It bites not using them, but I can't stand their practices!
  9. LOL! I forgot about the cycle as well.... Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewww! ( I just never could over come that...) I haven't had one in a while though...
  10. Please note, I am very ignorant on this subject**** *Takes deep breath* According to the way the law is written, even organic can have GMO's. From my understanding food containing GMO's don't have to be labeled.... :(
  11. First, I want to say "THANK YOU!!!!" to everyone that has responded. Unfortunately this situation will probably be best solved by finding a newer one. :( Sigh... I just love old, vintage things. :D KWIM? LOL This piano is a 1911 Howard Upright Piano that was built in Cincinatti, Ohio. It has some chips on some of the ivories, there are at least two keys that play no music and it has been at least ten years since its last tuning.... *sigh* LOL! I do want to say, thank you again. :) Now, I am off to find a 'newer but used piano...', if you can find such a thing on the net. I am sure one can. For those that asked, I live in Winder, GA. :)
  12. I don't agree with all their 'tools' ;) either, but I believe an active sex life is good for a marriage (when it is between the partners, lol no one else.) It is hard to word what I am saying, but then again I am one of the oddballs that believes connecting sexually can bring you to newer heights in a relationship and closer than ever with your partner. :D There was a time where dh and I had to go over a year without sexual intercourse due to severe medical conditions on my part. We make sure to make up for that all the time! :o! LOL
  13. I am not a doctor, (I am a nurse) but I believe a booster is due. :) Sorry.
  14. I will be praying as well. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. We live in N Ga, an area not normally affected by hurricanes, and we are making up our first set of evacuation plans. We have done tornado/fire, but I decided to work with dh for an evacuation plan for all things that could possibly happen. Best of luck to you.
  15. The girls draw. They draw ALL the time. ALL the time... I would like to get a pen that they can use for just a part of their drawing habits. We are trying to be more ecofriendly. :) We use recycled paper, but 2 reams in 1 month is too much for me to not feel guilty about. They do have their own laptops, so that won't be an issue. Thanks in Advance! (I apologize that I seem to be full of questions today! LOL) :D
  16. Okay, The girls love music and have always had an artistic flair. They want to learn how to play the piano and the guitar. I told them they have to learn the piano first. So, here is my doozy of a question. We have an heirloom paino, circa 1911, that is currently in our home. How hard will it be to have it tuned? I have had some tuners tell me just to throw it out because a new student needs to learn on perfect pitch. :( Then again, some tell me that they can tune it with no problems (most likely)... Are there any pianists here that can offer some advice? I am in Barrow County, in case that makes a difference on finding someone. We are also looking for someone to teach them. :) Thanks!
  17. We have been lifting this family up in prayer ever since we first heard that Dozer went missing. My heart is breaking for that family.
  18. I have to say that I agree whole heartedly with EVERY post, except in regards to the flu shot. I have my reasons, but I am not going there. :D LOL My daughter is immuno-suppressed so we have been down this road all to often. The poster that recommended avoiding anything that is antimicrobial is dead on, also avoid waterless hand sanitizers (alcohol based); It compromises the immune system as well. I always make sure to keep the house as dust/allergen free as possible, as well. HTH Dianna
  19. I am looking for ideas on teaching place value to my 1st and 3rd graders. :) The youngest needs exposure while the eldest needs a lot of reinforcement. :D I tried doing a search for place value and loads of unrelated threads came up.... :( Any tips? I tried putting it in quotes, but then it wouldn't return anything. UGH... so any tips on how to better my searches? Or, suggestions on how to hammer home place value?!?!?!
  20. I know this may sound like the silliest question, EVER, but I am at a loss with this. They know how to use the dictionary and I have taught them how to use encylopedias, but I feel very lacking. Here are my current issues: 1. Should I teach them how to research using the internet? They are second and third grade on this level so I am unsure if I should introduce that just yet. :) I know we will next year, but should I this year? They are having their own laptops installed this Friday and I feel it should be a key thing for them to know. Hmm... 2. How do you teach your dc to research? Do you give them a subject and then a list of places they can look for information? Or do you just assign them a subject? I don't want them to have to lean heavily on me when they need to do research, like I used to do when I was younger. I could go on and on, but I won't lol. Thanks, in advance.
  21. These are all fantastic ideas! I have had such issues with this very problem this year. :)
