  1. I think if your feeling overwhelmed then your doing to much. I suffer from anxiety as well, so the less we're involved in the happier I am, and the closer we are as a family.
  2. I think I would go with Core 100. You could read-aloud History of US to both of them, then your older ds. would read the rest. Your younger ds. could read the Core 4 books. You could also add some from Core 3 that you think he'd like.
  3. I'm assuming they don't give any of the page numbers on the back of the cards that contain anything too controversial, is that right? In other words, will the liberal bias be filtered out for me?
  4. I'll be using VP cards next year to guide us through American history. I've tried a couple Sonlight cores and just can't handle the pace, but I love most of there picks. So I'll be plugging in books from Core 3+4 and Core 100 where they fit for our readers and read-alouds. I bought an e-book of All Through the Ages by Christine Miller which catagorizes every title you could think of by age and time period, all the Sonlight books were in it.
  5. This code isn't working for me. I went through express checkout is that right?
  6. Thank you for the link, I remembered where to find another sample at Exodus Books. I've been going to their website for years and I still have trouble navigating through it, and finding what I need. It's very frustrating!
  7. I'm not finding samples on their website. I understand their theology. I'm wondering what's in the teacher manual, and if the cards are just like the history ones with page numbers on the back for the bible readings?
  8. I'm wanting to start rewarding my dd. with special stickers so she can start a collection. I didn't have any luck at Amazon. Anyone know where I could look?
  9. I used the science/bible portion for my dd's K year, which I still have fond memories of. Now I've started it with my ds. so will have some things to do over the summer. It's been a huge blessing already. I'm so thankful it was created!!!
  10. Well, the best part of homeschooling is snuggling on the couch with a great read-aloud. So I would definitely encourage you to keep that up. You could supplement the World Studies class with Sonlight Core 5 readers and read-alouds. My son really likes the World Studies w/ Mrs. Moon by the way, but his favorite class is the Life Science, which I'm sure you know we'll be all new for next year. Oh goodness I think I got you mixed up with someone else, you have younger children, so sorry. I would still encourage you to supplement their history and science with living books. The Sonlight catalog is a great resource for finding quality literature.
  11. Oh my goodness, blogging with other kids that are learning the same stuff sounds awesome! I'm off to learn more. Thank you so much for sharing.
  12. Well, after a day of research I decided not to go with MUS, and finally took the plunge and ordered Rightstart A instead. Thanks for all your input though. I just love these boards!!!
  13. My 3rd and 7th grader used BJU hardrive this year. The 7th grader used it for all subjects, my 3rd used everything except science and history. We've had a great experience for the most part. I think my dd's become a little burned out since Spring has arrived, but we're getting through it. The teacher's are top notch, and they're produced very well. You can see samples on their website for each class, and there are many threads here if you do a search that you'll find. We'll be using it again next year for everything except History which we'll all do together using a literature approach. I think using it for every subject would be too much, but it's great for all the core subjects. I'm very thankful to BJU for providing this option to those of us who know our limitations, but also want to keep our kids at home.
  14. We'll be using Hakim with Veritas Press history cards. The corresponding page numbers are on the back of each card. All our literature will be fit in from Sonlight Core 3+4 and Core 100.
  15. I'm just gonna stick with the 3 r's, which I'll use RS A, PP, and HWT for. Then Sonlight 4/5 for storytime.
  16. I'll be using this with my 5 yr.old. After you start paging through it ,you'll see you have some copies to make for the games you play. You'll need colored cardstock, and a laminator. That's been my first step, which I started today so thanks for starting this thread.
  17. Wanted to bump this for you. And IMHO say get out now!!! Especially if your son could take it or leave it. We did little league with our first ds. untill we couldn't take the coaches bad attitudes any longer. We couldn't believe the freedom we felt when we weren't running all the time to baseball. It was a huge commitment that was not worth it to us. I always resented it.
  18. Thanks for sharing. I've come so close to purchasing this a couple of times, but something inside always holds me back. I'm not a math person and fear I wouldn't understand it. I did purchase the games though, and need to try to figure out more of those.
  19. Thanks so much ladies, great ideas! I think I'm definitely being pulled in the MUS direction.
  20. I'm thinking of using this for my ds. kindergarten year, but boy is he having some fine motor issues. We've laid aside our HWT pre-k for now. Will Primer actually teach him how to write his numbers? And if so, I guess I'd skip that part in HWT?
  21. Thanks omma, you've really calmed me down. So good to hear how much your son's enjoyed all the language arts courses. To bad they haven't updated their math. I think me and dd. will sit down and preview all the samples, she really liked Mrs. Liston from the few science classes she watched so it's good to see her in the mix. I think it would be crazy of me to give up such quality materials and teachers for what would just put alot of stress and pressure on me. Thanks again!
  22. Thank you so much ladies, you've really helped. I just have alot to pray about now, as I have no idea which direction to go. I have to remember though what a mess I became trying to homeschool eclectically. And maybe this is just what's to be expected from any type of schooling with her the last semester after the weathers changed.
  23. Hmm, I'm just not finding pricing for individual online courses on their website, but still searching...
  24. I think individual online courses are only for 6th and up. I guess I should make sure.
