  1. Sorry your books were messed up but yes the small print does exclude them from covering the cost of your books but they can return the money you paid for the poor job. The explained that to me when I took my stuff in. I have also took my stuff to a small independent printer that we work with and she was really nervous about doing it but did a great job but it makes me wonder if it is tricky.
  2. Thank you. I was wondering if this assesement was any good when I saw it come through as a special. I wonder how young you can do it and get good information. 6?
  3. This is such a good thread on spelling. It's amazing the level of expertise we acquire while trying to help our children learn. You all really blow me away. The only thing I can add is that writing the words on note cards and with picture words for each spelling word has really helpped my Ds. The technique is Dianne Crafts' and you also but the card at arms length in the air for them to take a picture of the word. We have tried tons of programs but this has been the most helpful.
  4. Thanks for the help and the helpful link.
  5. Has anyone used MUS for geometry or higher math levels? I have loved MUS for things I can do well but I am a feeling worried about teaching something I did not do well with:(
  6. There are several curriculums that you could use for Multilevel teaching but if I were starting out again I would go with Tapestry of Grace and get the paper units. Good resale price, excellent curriculum and fun:) MFW is great but you dont really combine until 2nd grade. Kindergarten and 1st grade a separate. I have used and enjoy both. We have also done Sonlight mulit age format and I didnt think it worked well without lots of tweeking. One of the best speakers I have heard on multi level teaching is Heidi St. John. She talks about teaching Bible, History and Science together and teaching to each childs level. You start everyone together on the bus and as you reach that childs destination you let them off the bus. So your kindergartener would get off after the reading and color, the 3rd grader would listen and do copywork, the 6th grader would listen read an additional book and write a summary etc. HTH
  7. I like the idea of supplementing his diet with high iron foods the best way to increase his iron levels. If you already have a list of foods great. I would make a trail mix with raisins and dried aprciots and nuts for crunch(if he can have nuts) if not nuts dried bananas or toast some oats. I have iron and take Floridix which is a liquid iron supplement much easier to absorb then pills. You can get it from a health food store. I also make nettles tea which are high in iron. Nettles tea with local honey as sweeter is one of my favorites and my kids will drink it cold over ice, I highly recommend it.
  8. If going to the library is a problem maybe you could go through the book basket list and buy some of the books. I dont think the spine is that important for the younger ones anyway. My kiddos under 10 seem to get more from the stories/living books than the spines.
  9. What time of day do you schedule at home therapy? I will doing speech with one child and some dianne craft, and brain gym stuff with another. The brain gym and BIT I think will be throughout the day but what about speech. Trying to decide if I should include it in the flow of "regular" school work or do it after those things are completed... or before. just wondering what other folks do.:bigear: Thanks
