My dd has a smart phone. We took the internet off and password protected it.
My ds is getting a smart phone and will have internet access as he'll be 18 in less than six months.
We don't give internet access without filtering or Covenant Eyes to our teens until they are 17.

I'm sorry, but something doesn't make sense. The first time he touches you somewhere he shouldn't you stand up and go find a flight attendent. She is 13 and sat there for 30 minutes... Something does not add up. It isn't like other cases where maybe and adult relative has you hidden or you don't want them to get in trouble or whatever. It obviously bothered the girl. My daughter would have screamed or at the very least gotten up to find the flight attendant. I don't get how she had to just sit there until the flight attendant intervened. That makes no sense at all.
She probably was in shock. I imagine it would be especially difficult for a child to try to process what was happening. What doesn't make sense is that a grown man would touch a child inappropriately!
I don't usually jump in on threads such as these, but this is a perfect example of a child being a victim and people questioning the child's responses. No wonder so many parents try to keep their kids out of court and settle child abuse cases.

To address the decorating issue, I make one seasonal decor item each summer that will be a permanent, reusable, simple way of decorating that fits my home and personality. For me, that has been mostly table runners for my dining table. So far I have a reversible fall/Christmas one that is out from after Halloween until we take down the Xmas decorations, and a Halloween one which is out in October, as well as placemats for every day which can also be arranged down the middle of the table when one of the seasonal table runners isn't in use.
I also have seasonal candles for each, and have a designated place to store them all (my dining table has shelves underneath where I store all of this).
By doing one holiday each summer, I don't get overwhelmed (or spend too much, etc), and since I already have the storage space designated, it works well. It also gives me time to think through how I will actually decorate. For purchased items, I buy them during the post-holiday sales.
I agree that it's great to purchase decorations after the holiday. I like to use wall art that I can switch out for holidays. This year, I added a 4th of July photo of our family from when we first moved into our home. I store the decorations (other than Christmas) in our garage cabinets. When I put out holiday decorations, the every day decor goes onto the shelf in the garage that the holiday decorations just left. Then, it's a simple swap after the holiday. I also try to have the kids make holiday art (not crafts - painting on a actual canvas, etc.) that we can display.
We're minimalists here so it never feels cluttered.
It sounds like you're just polishing up an already beautiful life!

She's at the age where vision can change. Struggling to be able to read could play a role in being able to focus and is worth looking into if she hasn't had an eye exam recently.

We started both of our dc at 11. Both needed palate expanders but we were able to do it all in one round.

My mom is practically on bed rest while waiting for back surgery. She has found she loves the new adult version coloring books. She uses colored pencils and gel pens.

We give a ten dollar bill with a nice message that we hope they can enjoy a treat or movie with friends this summer to give them permission to spend it on something fun if they'd like to.

I just made a list this morning! :thumbup1:
1. Organize photos. Years worth of photos from my Kodak camera all fall under 2003 online because I never set the camera date.
2. Learn BodyFlow 73 (I'm a substitute fitness instructor)
3. Write girls' Bible study to go along with If:Gathering app's study called I Believe
4. Put together novice speech camp
5. Drive my daughter to speech camps

My dd likes dresses from Ross. She also bought two lovely maxi dresses (floor length but not too dressy) from Costco recently. I'd look for something that she felt comfortable wearing and easy to sit in.

I checked but didn't see if anyone had linked the original research. Here it is: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/enhanced/doi/10.1002/oby.21538/
Interestingly, the researchers believe that in general, the Biggest Loser program was effective because 57% of the contestants kept off at least 10% of their body weight. That 10% loss translates into health benefits, if not aesthetic benefits. Average weight maintenance is 35+ lbs less than they were at the start.
You can also really dig around in the data. They lost way more fat mass than muscle mass and they have overall stayed very active exercise-wise.
We need to keep in mind that this was a very small study: 14 participants. Additionally, there was no control group, etc. So any "findings" have to be interpreted in light of that.
Thanks for sharing the research and conclusion. It's very interesting.

Big windows letting in lots of light.
Location - less than a mile to the library, community college, and our church.
Price - We bought at the low and 6 years later it's worth $100,000 more than we paid for it.

My dd started this course recently: https://allinonehighschool.com/drawing-professionally/
I'm seeing improvement in her drawing.

I've found really nice wall hangings at Ross, TJ Maxx, Target and Kohls. You can buy a few large pieces that color coordinate to really tie a room together. That's what always made our rental apartments and rental houses feel like home.

I didn't realize they offered student notebooks too! That will help the transition to high school science here.
