  1. Good friends have a dairy cow. It's a lot of work. They only milk once a day but it still requires a big commitment. They milk by hand and are very careful about cleanliness. I get milk from them which is great but I'm not sure I'd do it myself. If I was picking a cow (having listened to them) I'd look for a good temperment - a family cow.
  2. And you'll notice that I'm still avoiding my weight. I am 5'3" and 175 lbs - 20 lbs would be a huge improvement and 40 would be about perfect.
  3. I'm scared to post too. Isn't it weird how writing it down makes it "real". My goal is only to track my food intake. I'm a good exerciser but need to be aware of food.
  4. I've been making a half hearted effort at using SparkPeople. I probably should join you in an accountability thread but I have such a horror of committing and then failing at it.
  5. I don't find it hard to use but I confess that I don't really like it. It just doesn't have the same feel to it.
  6. I'm in the south eastern cornor of BC - just above the Idaho Panhandle.
  7. I'm only homeschooling one now - a 12 yo boy. My now 15yo dd went to PS Gr 10 for the first time this fall and is doing brilliantly. Dh works in the computer business - mostly from home but travels to Silicon Valley about once every six weeks. He's gone this week - the coldest week of the year and left me with a dead van. As for schooling we're doing lots of co-op work right now - Ancient History, Rosemary Sutcliff, quilting, drafting, Oak Meadows Science, Singapore Math. I'm struggling with the new boards but I guess I'll adjust.
  8. Barbequed after soaking in soy sauce and a bit a lemon juice, oil, honey, garlic and ginger. Sorry no recipe.
  9. We took the train to Heathrow and had no trouble navigating. My sister gave us directions and everything was well marked so transfers were easy. Once we got there it was an short walk to check in and there were carts everywhere. Could his hotel give him directions?
  10. I don't find it as "friendly". And I'm not even sure what I mean. Perhaps I'll adjust. Otherwise, I'll have more time for other things.
  11. I had a similar experience with my then 5 yo dd. It was painful for both of us until I figured out what the real problem. I thought she was being lazy or inattentive and I was wrong.
  12. Mine came and went in my early 20s. Getting them out was no problem.
