Maternity Swimsuit--where to buy?
~Puddins~ replied to Aubrey's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I had one from JCPenney's and one from Old Navy that were both halter style with boy shorts for bottoms and they fit well...but that was about three years ago, I'm not sure if they have become indecent since then :) -
With my second son, at my first appt, they heard two heartbeats and ordered an u/s then and there...only one baby :) I will watch for your update in three weeks!!!

We are going camping...need recipes/websites
~Puddins~ replied to PineFarmMom's topic in General Education Discussion Board
A friend sent me this link for our future camping trips http://www.koa.com/familyzone/ -
It starts on page 19 with "The Early Years" and has probably around 30 poems, not including the Bible memorization further down. "Grammatical Stage" begins on page 59, but the poems are quite longer. Does that help any? We whole heartedly enjoy the book, but it was a free book to us so I didn't feel pressured to enjoy it :)

Don't forget to watch Cranford tonight
~Puddins~ replied to CookieMonster's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I've been enjoying Cranford so much, but was highly disappointed to get only an hour's worth tonight! I think I'll have to buy the DVD to watch it all in one sitting. -
I bought the manipulatives, but not one of the "upgraded" sets, just the regular set. I have one son doing K and one in book 2 and so far the average set of manipulatives has been just great. I would not spend extra for optional stuff.

Our family photos are posted...

Those are wonderful pictures of your family. I have always wanted 6 children, so seeing your family, my heart melted...what a beautiful family. -
I'm looking for Christina White in Ohio!!
~Puddins~ replied to ~Puddins~'s topic in General Education Discussion Board
No, she is not in Columbus, I believe Cincinnati? I did try calling CAP, but did not get an answer, I will try them again on Monday. I just figured if she was on here, I could atleast let her know why she did not receive her package, as this looks like it is some thing they had already messed up on once, according to the receipt :) oops!! -
I'm so glad I saw this thread...I was debating (more than I should) which "way" to go...glad to know I pretty much can't go wrong :)

Curious--were any of you hs'ing parents homeschooled?
~Puddins~ replied to Amie's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Yes, my mom homeschooled my older brother and I. He attended a public school kindergarten when he was 6 years old, and after that my mom decided there was no way he was going back. I loved being homeschooled, but prior to having children, I did not think I could do it myself. How things change once we become a mother :001_wub: I love homeschooling my own, I want them to have the same cherished childhood that I did. On a side note, I am also 26 :001_smile: -
I only have the book, and wish I had the cd, too. I would vote both. Next year I will buy both.
-
I did not order the teacher's manual. I don't think it's necessary. The workbook is pretty self explanatory.
-
My son is only 6 (and a half, can't forget that!) years old, but he loves Song School Latin. He is a very auditory learner, so the cd is our favorite part. I know it says it is geared for K-3, so honestly I think it would be just fine with your 8 year old. I thought the price was pretty fair, too, so even if it didn't work out, no doubt you could find some one else to buy it on the For Sale thread!

Wow, I like that face recognition site..who would have thought Eva Longoria was my twin? :D Since I'm two times taller, not to mention a frizzy curly headed, blue eyed girl of the south. Aw well. When I was in high school, and the show "Felicity" was on, people thought I looked like her (the long, curly hair was the only feature I could see similiarities!). There was also some girl in a commercial for some acne medicine back in the late '90's, and I got a lot of remarks about her, but not being much of a TV watcher, never ever saw her to see if I saw a resemblance! Darn darn.

I bought the manipulatives set as that is the main focus for the K program (no workbook to use!). If you already have some of the manipulatives, then perhaps you could purchase the rest individually on Rainbow Resources. They really are fun :001_smile:

I didn't want to be the first person to say this :D But we don't use them either.

I visited England after my senior year of high school :001_tt1: That was me. I fell in love. My husband is prior military but we wound up in Japan for our overseas tour. My heart longs to go back to ol' England and sip some tea. Have FUN, enjoy every moment, and I'll be sure to let you know what days I'll be needing that guest room ;)

Wow, he is quite the beautiful little man. Congratulations and thanks for sharing such a precious picture!

My library only had one when we were doing those chapters, isn't that some thing! So what I did was just a general search for "family trees" "archaeology", etc and we found fun books that way. And really, some weeks we don't even get around to doing the extra books! So definitely don't feel like you *must* have them.

I wasn't sure if you were doing the Introduction or starting at chapter 1 Cross references for all chapters: Usborne Book of World History Usborn Internet-Linked Encyclopedia Kingfisher Illustrated History of the World Kingfisher history Encyclopedia Intro: Me and My Family Tree by Joan Sweeney Archaeologists Dig for Clues by Kate Duke The Magic School Bus Shows and Tells: A book about Archaeology by Jackie Posner I can Be an Archaeologist by Robert Pickering Writing down the Day 365 Creative Journaling Idea for Young People by Lorraine M. First Favorites Comprehension Guides by Veritas Press
~Puddins~ replied to marsha617's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
Sorry, I have never used BFIAR, but we do have the VP Comprehensive Guides (are on Volume 1 right now) and we enjoy them. We use them in the afternoon as part of our "relaxation" time with books :)
