DS is seven (will be eight on the 18th). This is the first real LA program we have tried with him. It seems to be the vowel sounds and vowel teams he just can't seem to retain, or atleast to put together in a word. Are the books for ETC any better than the online version? Thanks!

Have any of you tried Explode the code online? My DS is struggling with CLE LA (half way through LA one when we should be moving on to LA two). He knows vowel sounds when asked but has a hard time placing them in word. I'm getting desperate and totally discouraged.....
-
Thanks! I will be placing an order soon. Until I receive my order I am going to search online and see if I can find any worksheets.

My DS isn't retaining enough in our CLE LA. Does anyone know if there are any extra worksheets available? Thanks!!

Magic Tree House books for older kids??
SpiritCatcher replied to SpiritCatcher's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
Thanks for the recommendations! I ordered MTH for DS and five books (from those you listed Zenjenn) for DD. After looking at many of the MTH books I didn't think they would be anything DD would want to read. I was hoping DD might read them and could then later pass them on to DS and therefore killing two birds with one stone... -
Magic Tree House books for older kids??

Thanks ZenJenn! I had originally planned on getting these just for my younger DS but saw some of them listed as being for older children as well. My DD just read "Fried Green Tomatoes" and loved it I just don't have a clue where to go from there..... -
I am going to order some of the MTH books for my 7 year old DS. I was checking them out on Amazon and see some of the books are listed for ages 9-12. I'm worried my 11 year old DD might think of these as "little kid" books. Do any of you have have 11-12 year old kids reading some of these books? Thanks!!

I don't understand this punishment for kids...

50 does seem like overkill! I doubt the kid was 5/6 if he had to wear pads. In our area that age would be playing flag football. My DS is eight and wears pads this year to play tackle football. -
Any good recommendations for learning map skills for later elementary/ early middle school? Thanks!

I can most certainly relate! HSing has been a struggle for us in many ways. I hope this method works out for you both :) -
I found a gap in our homeschool

We did this as children but I haven't taught it to mine just yet. We didn't call it "sing a round" but for the life of me I can't remember what we did call it... -

There are many ways for them to get our DC names. After answering emails concerning their program for a friend last year we ended up on their mailing list. A friend of my DD went to Canada last year. The trip cost them over 6,000, OUCH!! It's actually a very well know program and I have heard many rave about them. -
Thanks Autumn! Can anyone tell me more about the activity book that can be purchased with SOTW? Does this contain more activities or does it lean more toward a work book?
-
FYI, if you purchase this book and place it on your bed side table it doesn't do a thing for weight loss ;)
-
Does SOTW require other reading material outside of the main book? Thanks!
