  1. I forgot to ask if anyone also bought the teacher edition with it as well?
  2. Judomom, Have you used Vocal coach? Any reviews? Thanks for the info!
  3. For those of you who have or are using this book with or without another program, which copyright/version of the book did you use(or what was the photo on the cover)? I looked briefly and see that there are many versions out there. I am planning on using it with Exploring Education for my physics program next year. Thanks in advance.
  4. Florida Lisa, I would love this link as I just came on today to see who used Exploration Education as a stand alone science curriculum and who loved it. I can't find much in terms of reviews but think that I am going to use it for my science hands on loving dd for next year.
  5. My dd sings all day long.....is there an online software program or something else that I can use in my home to teach her voice lessons? I figured that I would ask here first. Thanks in advance.
  6. 4 years ago, I moved my homeschooling support group from yahoo to Bigtent. It was a great switch. Then about 6 months ago, we started having issues with Bigtent and we needed to make workarounds for everything (like the fact that apostrophe's never get coded right). Now, Bigtent did a huge release a couple of days ago, without notifying a lot of members, and now everything is messed up. Two events that were on our calendar yesterday never had notifications go out on time, then they were erased from the calendar. All of the customization is gone and the featured events option is no longer an option. So, anyone have any advice on other free group websites that I can move my group to? I am all ears. I am looking for forums, member list, and a calendar with RSVPs. And it really has to be free. However, there are less than 50 of us, so some paid sites may be free for smaller groups. Thanks in advance! Kimmi
  7. So after I posted this, my settings in the forum got locked down. So if the member sees this, I am interested in your B set. I do not currently have PM access as my whole account is locked down as maybe the site thinks that the above post is spam. So if you happen to see this, I really really want to buy the set. :) Hopefully this post goes through and my settings get fixed! Kimmi
  8. I am trying to locate this member as I would love to buy the latin bundle from them and they cannot accept any new messages. If you get this please message me or reply here. Thanks!
  9. I used MR.Q for Life and RSO for Earth. When I asked my dd which program she liked better, she said RSO. We do add a lot of extra reading books from the library. I will be purchasing RSO chem for next year. I might switch back to MR Q for middle school. Good luck!
  10. I had this same problem last year. They approved my group and then disenrolled my group in 2 months without letting us know. I went through the hoops with them about being "accredited" and got nowhere. So now I have hundreds of boxtops and have been selling them on ebay to get pennies for what they are worth. Good luck!
  11. My 6 year olds go to toys are My Little Pony playsets and "rush hour" critical thinking game (the adult version). She also loves pretend anything and dress up clothes, shoes, handbags, etc. Good luck and have fun shopping!
  12. After 3 weeks of arguments, Im done with Boxtops. I called corporate General Mills and got past the whole "accreditation" thing and they reactivated me, only to deactivate me again within 24 hours stating that my EIN didnt have the correct info. Basically, we arent incorporated, so to GM, we arent an official association. That was the most stressful 3 weeks of my life. I personally think that they are just making it up as they go along since they had my EIN number on file since Aug. and they were so dead set on the accrediation thing. Now all of a sudden, Im not an association. UGH. Good luck to those of you who are on this journey with them.
  13. I did all of that. They have taken my EIN # and bank info 4 times now along with my website. I reminded them that I am not a private school (thinking that might be the problem) and I asked them what proof other homeschool groups offered. They wont give me any info, wont let me speak to a supervisor, wont give me General Mills email or phone number, and keep telling me that they are sorry for my stress, but General Mills only allows accredited homeschool associations to join. UGH!!!!! All they keep saying is that the only piece of info that I am missing is the accreditation. I keep telling them that Florida law doesnt mandate that homeschool groups be accredited, nor do they have an accreditation board for homeschool associations (and I am pretty sure that no state does). She even asked me if the kids enrolled in my group can re-enter public school at any time with no problem and I told her yes. I think that there is a serious flaw with homeschool associations and boxtops enrollment. I can't be the only one having this problem and I dont even have anyone to complain to. :banghead:
  14. so I called once again today and they told me that I have all of the requirements except the fact that I have to prove that I am an accredited homeschool association. What does this even mean? There are no accreditation boards for homeschool groups?
  15. Here is the list that I was referencing to in my post. <http://surefoodsliving.com/2010/10/halloween-candy-list-gluten-free-allergen-free-status-2010/> This is very helpful to me to keep my child safe after trick or treating.
  16. I havent read through all of the posts but.... my dd has a severe tree nut/peanut allergy. We take her and she can even grab candy out of tubs since she pre-knows what candy she can eat. She always grabs for dum-dums, skittles, jolly ranchers, dots, nerds, stuff like that. If its all chocolate, she will grab me a twix (my favorite) and then we move on. I have never had concern of her touching things with wrappers, but my dd will ask me to sanitize her hands when we are done anyway. Then when we get home, we go through all of her candy and 2 bags are made. 1 bag that is safe for her and 1 bag for me and daddy(usually all chocolate stuff). FAAN usually puts out a Halloween candy list prior to Halloween to make it easier on the parents. Good luck and have fun!
  17. I have had time to cool down, but I am still frustrated. I jumped through all of their hoops and even called them back after my rant on here to see if I could speak to someone different. It didnt help. I totally understand them trying to be careful because of fraud, but if you have an EIN # and a bank account in the group name(both things that they can verify), that should be verification enough in my eyes to prove that you aren't a mom turning in boxtops for $. Im still stumped about the whole accreditation thing and I dont think I will be able to let this go if I get denied again as I tried to explain to her 3 times that homeschooling groups dont have to use accredited curriculum since that is all she kept saying to me that they couldnt verify with my group. They either want homeschool groups to participate or not. Now I understand why people just sell the boxtops on EBAY. Ok...Im done venting for the evening. Thanks for listening.
  18. So I have been jumping through hoops with Boxtops for a week now trying to get my group re-registered. Today I was told on the phone that its great that I have an EIN # and a bank account in the groups name, but there is no way for them to verify that my homeschool group uses accredited curriculum and how many students I have and what grades they are in. I explained that there is no way for me to "prove" that the curriculum that we use is accredited. She told me that General Mills wants that as they only give accounts to schools that use accredited curriculum. I told her that homeschool groups dont have accreditation and that there is no accreditation board. Also, how do I prove how many kids are in the group. I told her how many, even sent her to a yahoo group site that showed her how many and what grades we were and they told me that wasnt good enough. :banghead: Is anyone else having this problem? I am livid to say the least. I think this is ridiculous.
  19. For your 1/2 days, I would do MGM (I dont even know what it is called anymore-maybe Hollywood studios) AND Epcot since your child is so young, or animal kingdom if you think your child would enjoy Epcot more. Epcot is very educational with all of the countries, but not a ton of rides. Animal Kingdom gets hot quick . Yes, you definately need sunscreen!!!! I would do it all without a break and then leave when you are finished, as you might not make it back if you leave. I would def. do Magic Kingdom for the full day as it is nearly impossible to do it all on a good day. :) And your child will love that one the most anyway. I would preplan now what rides she wants to do and try to get fast passes for the famous ones. Like Peter Pan. That line is forever. You will need a vacation when you get back no matter what since they are long days. Make sure that you have comfy shoes, and watch the weather. Have fun!!!
  20. Sandy, Is your group 501c3 certified? Or registered as a nonprofit in your state? Those are the only 2 things that my group isnt. But I have an EIN # and a bank account and the right number of people in my group. I did reapply, but they told me that chances are I would be denied again. I am so frustrated.
  21. and then we did all of the contests over the summer and as of 2 days ago, my group was deactivated. When I called to find out why, they told me that General Mills was doing random audits and deactivated a bunch of homeschools. I fit all of their requirements and I have no idea why I was deactivated. To say that I am livid is an understatement. Anyone else deactivated? They didnt even contact me, just did it and I found out when I couldnt login. UGH!!!
