  1. What a great alternative for the blood glucose drink! Glad you are having that test, it's an important one.
  2. Are you on the different message boards? Because I know I have read this all before quite awhile ago... I am surprised this has yet to be resolved.
  3. I know a lot of families that have struggled with the same thing you are. We all have things we struggle with. I think we all just have to come to a point in realizing that due to our sin nature we are incapable of perfection, which includes perfectly loving and obeying God Admitting to that and repenting about it is what will set you free.
  4. I am all for it! I think it would be such a wonderful experience for your family to raise animals that will produce your food. It is all very sweet. The one con is that they are messy and smelly, but very good fertilizers. We are planning on raising chickens next year when we are in a living situation that will allow them. I haven't done the price break down, but we spend around $20 a month for local, free range, organic eggs. I am sure that it would take awhile to "break even" from the initial investment. However, I think that taking charge of your food and allowing your children the experience is more important than the finances.
  5. I wouldn't say anything because although you may find it inappropriate their parents are clearly alright with it. And you saying something would just come across as legalistic and possibly start an altercation. I know I wouldn't take it well if someone told me they felt my children looked inappropriate.
  6. The University of Washington is one of the best public universities in the country. It is also exceedingly challenging to get into.
  7. The most important part about any car seat or booster is that it is being used properly and the child is within the height and weight requirements. It is dangerous to keep a child in a 5 point harness if they have outgrown the weight requirements the harness straps may no longer be strong enough to support them in the event of a collision. As for those specific booster, I think they are both great.
  8. All the misinformation and scare-tactics surrounding this vaccine are a personal pet peeve of mine. I am currently in nursing school pursuing a BSN disease and recently gave a presentation on the vaccine. Giving this vaccine to your children is not a license for them to sleep around. People still need to engage in parenting their children about their family values. Giving this to your daughter can prevent her from contracting cervical cancer, one of the deadliest types of cancer. HPV is not just contracted through sexual activity. You can contract it from things as benign as a toilet seat. Also, as someone mentioned earlier just because you want your daughter to remain a virgin until marriage doesn't mean she will nor, does it mean her future husband will. Yes, boys can be given the vaccine. The purpose is to prevent spreading it to women. Once again to protect against cervical cancer. I'm sorry if this is harsh, but as someone in the health care field it is appalling to see people not protecting their children from a life threatening condition just because it can be related to sexual activity.
  9. No, the only time we ever do that is the snack they get after soccer practice once a week. I don't think eating before bed is healthy or necessary if the dinner served is properly balanced.
  10. Maybe it's because my kids aren't that old, but I really don't see what the big deal is... it seems like a case of boys will be boys, kids will be kids. It seems to me the school system overreacts about the smallest things and then doesn't act when there is something legitimate going on. :glare:
  11. And another thing that keeps tats looking great through the years is always putting sunscreen on them when out in the sun.
  12. My experience with tattoos is that if the artist is properly trained and good at their job the tattoo will look wonderful for years to come. The only exception to this is if the tattoo is placed in a location that will suffer from the effects of gravity.
  13. I love the idea of a saying on your inner wrist. I have a tattoo of a poppy (symbolizing the ability to overcome adversity) on my lower forearm and I love it more and more as time goes on. I have always wanted to do a saying, but haven't settled on "the one yet". It might be a good idea to go to a good tattoo artist in your area that creates their own art and talk to them about your idea to symbolize the miscarriages. In my experience the best tattoo artists are legitimately good artists that happen to prefer living breathing canvases. I bet a good artist would have some really amazing ideas and be able to draw them up for you. Good luck in your quest and definitely let us know what you end up doing. :001_smile:
