  1. Stacia, this looks good. :) I've read quite a few of her books and have enjoyed them. My problem is that I don't quite remember which ones I've read. :grouphug: I finished Picnic at Hanging Rock last night. Thank you, Rosie, for the lovely gift. :grouphug: :D I'd give it 3 Stars. I liked it a lot, but wish there was stronger closure. I'm not a huge fan of filling-in-the-blanks. Really loved the Australian turn-of-the-century feel. I'd like to see the movie. MY RATING SYSTEM 5 Stars Fantastic, couldn't put it down 4 Stars Really Good 3 Stars Enjoyable 2 Stars Just Okay – nothing to write home about 1 Star Rubbish – waste of my money and time. Few books make it to this level, since I usually give up on them if they’re that bad.
  2. Annie, you're welcome :). I love her blog and her writing. She's so real and so open, incredibly helpful also.
  3. New thread. Please share your workouts. Everyone welcome. :D
  4. Did about half of Jill Miller Hips. Thought it was lame. Did my own stretches and some weight stuff instead.
  5. I've read that book two or three times. The first time, I loved it. Malcolm Gladwell is a fabulous writer and makes some very convincing arguments. After the 2nd and 3rd times, however, I got more upset by it. I regret telling others about it. It just makes me want to :banghead: if you KWIM. :D This blog is by one of my dearest online friends - a former homeschooling mom.
  6. Going swimming soon. Thank you for the lovely encouragement :grouphug:. Although I mostly use our pool, the beach is so close to us (across the street) and I need to go there more often also. Every time I go, it feels like absolute heaven. How nice. Gardening is great exercise. Your magazine workout sounds very good also. I often clip and file my favorite magazine workouts. Been doing that since my teen years.
  7. This is an incredibly insightful and honest thread. I really hope that it doesn't get deleted.
  8. Robin, thank you. Added both to my wish list. Yes, I cannot stand horror either. I tried to read Dean Koontz once and it was so scary. Maybe I need to search his books also. Love your new avatar:) :). Shannon, you may very well have been the one who told me about it here. Tam, I completely forgot that he wrote Shawshank Redemption. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I probably won't read The Green Mile, since I've seen the movie a few times. I've added on the other books you've mentioned here. Thank you. :)
  9. I've never read a Stephen King book and am wondering if I should. I cannot tolerate scary, but I do like excitement/thriller-type stuff, such as The Dragon Tattoo stuff and so on. I loved The Green Mile movie. The one thing that impresses me is that he loves Harry Potter and cannot stand Twilight, as do I. I finished Pictures of You and give it 4 Stars. I think it has a lot to do with timing and what I need at this point in my life - not too heavy or serious :). I'm now reading The Year of Magical Thinking.
  10. Love this so far. Thank you for sharing. :)
  11. Going swimming soon. I didn't get to exercise yesterday. We went out for a long very early morning drive to see the sunrise on the other side of the island. My goal is to see at least one sunrise every year. I would do more, but it's not always easy from our home. Here's just one picture from yesterday.
  12. New thread. Please share your workouts. Everyone welcome. :)
  13. :iagree: :iagree: :iagree: I've been thinking the same thing while teaching my dd. :glare:
  14. Not much time this morning, but I have posted a few times about hair loss. Here's just one thread. Lots and lots of info there and I hope you find some of it helpful. Daily scalp massage for just a few minutes, I have been told (and I strongly believe) is key. I do it daily with a few drops of jojoba oil. Nutrition and other stuff mentioned there should hopefully make a difference. I have thick hair, but I don't want to take it for granted. I know that as I get older I will lose more hair.
  15. I can't bake these days until my leg heals from an injury. Now, as a result of this thread, I just can't wait to try out many of these recipes posted here. I'm now having a major craving for chocolate cake. :D
  16. Me too. I tried and tried. Loved Fargo. Loved most of the Coen brothers movies, except I really hated No Country for Old Men.
