  1. About to soon do 2 Miles of Leslie - Burn Body Fat & Sculpt Your Arms This is so helpful. Thank you. I'm considering ordering the Digestive DVD for my dh. Not sure yet. There aren't any alignment snacks that seem to address that problem. Once you've tried the breathing one, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it.
  2. Joyce Vedral Bone Building Workout - first time. My favorite so far is the Cougar one. This comes in second. So far. Lots more to try! I don't have much time this morning. This thread will hopefully answer how I (and some others) feel about it. I haven't ruled her out. I still have 7 more of the snacks to try. Will keep you updated. :grouphug:
  3. Happy Belated Birthday to you both!
  4. I will never read another John Grisham novel again.
  5. I wasted 40 minutes of my time trying out 2 Katy Bowman downloads (pelvic floor & back). They were not what I expected, yet I'd heard such great things about them. I felt frustrated that I wasted my time :(. I really do hope that the rest of them are better. I have seven more to try. They weren't expensive - just $5 each. It's possible that her DVDs might be better, but I refuse to get them unless I see video clips, etc. Also did 3 Miles of Leslie: Burn Body Fat & Sculpt Your Arms. I have that one. Haven't done it in ages. It's a good one. I have a hard time standing in the Tree Pose for as long as he does.
  6. Did Joyce Vedral's Bathing Suit Workout again. I had a hard time focusing yesterday and felt rushed. It was okay. I don't think it's her best. I prefer the Cougar one, but will be trying lots more, since I got almost all her DVDs. Yes! I ordered several and hope to start trying them out from tomorrow. Can't wait! I'm getting there also :D. :grouphug: :grouphug:
  7. Thank you for all your research and for sharing. You are the absolute best :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:.
  8. About to soon do Joyce Vedral's Bathing Suit Workout - first time.
  9. Redsquirrel, no need to apologize. Thank you so much for replying and for being so helpful :grouphug:. By the way, on the workout thread (this week's), I replied to your question about Classical Stretch. Not sure if you saw it or not. I just ordered some downloadable Katy Bowman "alignment snacks' and am looking forward to trying them out. Like you, I don't wear make up either. Now and again, I might use a tinted moisturizer and lip balm, but that's really it. Those are the only times I use a cleanser. Other than that, I just wash my face with water. At night time, I usually alternate between BHA and Retin-A (not if I'm exhausted or anything). I like your idea of waiting 48 hours between those and a peel. Makes complete sense. As far as facial exercises, I'm only doing a teeny-tiny bit of chin exercises to hopefully help with my double chin. Losing weight would be more effective, but that's a whole 'nuther problem. I really appreciate your links and the suggestion as to how to double-check with Google. I never would have thought of using the "dupe" key word. Thanks again for everything and thank you to the OP here who started this super-helpful thread. :grouphug:
  10. :grouphug: I have found (and this is quite obvious, I know) that whether or not I enjoy a book or not, has so much to do with what's going on in my life at that moment. During very stressful times, I find it hard to enjoy most books. Only certain books can fill that need during those awful times.
  11. You and me both :D. That was part of my excuse for not doing much today. I'm trying to decide which of her alignment snacks to order. I'm very impressed so far. Dh needs some of those also.
  12. :iagree: . Those are among my favorite books. I've read the entire series at least twice, I think. Middlesex is one of my favorite books ever, thanks to Stacia, who recommended it to me time and time again, before I finally listened :D.
  13. This is so helpful. Thank you. I'm off to look into her alignment snacks :). Do please let me know what you think of her DVD. I'm tempted to order the set with all of them, even though one or two of that set would likely just sit there. It's a better deal, rather than buying lots of them individually. I just need to wait to see if anyone's coming. They charge a lot for shipping, customs, and duties here. Sorry your week was so awful. Hopefully this week will be a better one. :grouphug: Wow! What a relief that you're okay and that the stretching has prevented you from pain, etc.
  14. Nothing much - just lots of stretching and trying out my foam roller. Got lots and lots of new Joyce Vedral DVDs yesterday. My parents returned from the U.S. and brought them for me. Joyce has been having an unbelievable sale. I couldn't resist.
  15. Bumping. Not sure if anyone saw my questions :). Maybe I should start a new thread.
  16. I read: At Home - 3 Stars - I love Bryson's chatty style and the way that every historical fact is presented in an interesting, although rather meandering way. This is not as funny as his other books. It’s a really a book about how life has changed over the past few hundred years, but it’s very readable. If only all history books were this interesting! and The Time Keeper - 4 Stars - I always enjoy Mitch Albom’s books. They are meaningful and ever so deep. The message in this one is clear and simple, although not always easy to implement. The characters stay with you for quite a while. MY RATING SYSTEM 5 Stars Fantastic, couldn't put it down 4 Stars Really Good 3 Stars Enjoyable 2 Stars Just Okay – nothing to write home about 1 Star Rubbish – waste of my money and time. Few books make it to this level, since I usually give up on them if they’re that bad.
  17. Redsquirrel, some more things I thought about: Here are some video clips that might help you make a decision. I seldom buy a DVD before seeing a clip. Not everyone likes Miranda, although I do. She can come off to be a bit quirky. It took me a while to like CS. At first, I didn't care for it much at all. Season 10 Promo Trailer Season 9 There are more on her site.
  18. About to soon do: Classical Stretch: Volume 1 - Vintage Collection - Arms & Abs - I really love the arms part and don't care much for the abs. Might skip that part and do my own thing.
  19. Not sure if Katy Bowman has been mentioned on this thread or not, but I just saw this and have yet to read it all. Her books and DVDs are tempting me :D.
  20. Redsquirrel, I'll do my best to answer you about Classical Stretch. I like most of the ones I've tried. There are so many in each DVD, that I still haven't done them all. I feel wonderful after doing most of them. Some of the moves are not my thing. But generally, they're the sort of workouts that make me feel I should be doing them more often each time I finish doing them. The DVDs do seem very expensive, and at first I was rather reluctant to get them. But then someone on the VF forum reminded me that each DVD consists of lots of 25-minute workouts. There's a lot to choose from on each. Some people do one or so a day, or one every few days or whatever. Others on the VF forums do up to 3 of them for a complete workout. I sometimes do that. As someone suggested: "When CS/Essentrics is the MAIN WORKOUT aim for 60-90 minutes, if possible! I believe CS/Ess can be effective at toning and tightening, but I think you most probably need to do more than 30 minutes a day to make that happen. I think the 1/2 hour is more for the 'get up and get moving' crowd (or for those who use it as a stretch). 1-1/2 hour is where the magic happens!" If you wish to get one, this thread is very helpful. Every November (around Thanksgiving), they usually have a sale. I'm tempted to get one then (maybe). Ebay often has them as well. I got at least one of my CS DVDs from ebay. I have her Vintage Collections, which I like a lot. I also have the following seasons: 4, 6, and 8. So far, I prefer CS over Essentrics (which is taught by Miranda's daughter). This thread (which includes links to at least one other thread) was very helpful to me also. If you're looking for stretching DVDs which are not necessarily CS, here's a thread. I hope that this is all helpful. Let me know if you have more questions. Now, I'm starting to look into Katy Bowman and her DVDs and I can't get my mind off of them . I really am a terrible DVD workout junkie. I've only heard fabulous things about these. Need to look into them more.
  21. Link to new thread. I'll reply to you on the new thread. :)
  22. New thread. Please post your workouts here. Everyone welcome. :)
  23. Rebounding. Was hoping to do more, but then I got tired. I hope to do something later in the day, but that's usually unlikely with rigid and inflexible me :glare:. No, sorry.
  24. Thank you all. I've been looking on You Tube, Pinterest, and am even considering a book from amazon. I wouldn't mind a book where I just focus on a few stretches a day and that's it. Not sure yet. This made me smile. I haven't seen her yet, but comments like this get me giggling . Yes, please do let me know. I'll also post here as to what I find. I agree with you. I want something quick. I wish that I'd gotten the one you got. :( Now I have to wait until someone can either bring one for me (which is always a giant pain) or until our next trip. This is the one I got. It seems fine, just a little too hard for newbie me.
