  1. Portobello mushrooms are my favorite mushrooms. They do have a stronger flavor and thicker texture than other mushrooms (that's why they're often used as a meat replacement in burgers, sandwiches, fajitas, etc.). The dish you described sounds wonderful to me, but if you don't like strong tasting mushrooms, you may want to choose something different. Or, give it a try. You might be pleasantly surprised. :)
  2. If I were in this situation, I'd be planning lots of things we could do together at home. Even if it's just along the lines of board games or planning to watch a movie together in the evenings. I'm assuming he won't be able to get out much as he's healing. If that's not the case, and he can get out and do things with you and the kids, I'd be planning regular activities outside the home to break things up a bit. DH and I go stir-crazy if we're just hanging around the house for too long. We do better when there's something planned, whether it's inside or outside the home. Having a plan keeps you moving towards "the next thing", so you won't feel as overwhelmed by the prospect of having your DH home full-time for several months.
  3. I'm so sorry. :grouphug: I heard something about a teacher on the local news this morning. Regardless of what happened, I hope your brother is treated fairly in the process. Hang in there. :grouphug:
  4. He is until I trade him in for a younger model. :tongue_smilie: (Kidding!!! I'm kidding, people!!)
  5. (flat earther sticks fingers in ears) Lalalalalalalalalalala, I can't hear you! :willy_nilly: Stop making sense already. :p
  6. I think I'm going to create my own science, possibly with an associated religion. We'll have lots of mythical creatures, including a mercorn or unimaid. It will be a hybrid of a mermaid and a unicorn, because that's twice as awesome as a mermaid or unicorn on its own. Haven't decided on the naming scheme yet, but it will definitely be sparkly. I'll set up a website (because having a website will make our beliefs legitimate), which will have indoctrination training materials available for download as well as a proselytizing discussion forum. We'll have a set-up like some existing cults organizations, where you can buy your way become a supporter of the cause in order to achieve higher levels of delusion consciousness. It'll be fun. :D
  7. Well, that was an entertaining read. I had to stop when I got to the part about how "the force known as gravity doesn't exist." :001_huh: :smilielol5:
  8. Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day! :-)
  9. What Jann in TX said. Definitely don't turn it on until it has dried out for a few days at least. Turning it on prematurely can cause significant damage. I recently had this happen with our laptop (one of our cats knocked a flower vase over on the laptop's keyboard and it was drenched in water). It took about a week of drying out to come back on.
  10. The kids and I don't get flu shots, and haven't for years (DD has never had one - last time DS and I had one was probably about 6-7 years ago). DH is required to get them (due to being in the Army Reserves).
  11. I'm glad I read the reassuring replies above before watching this. I totally would have wimped out before getting to the end. Can't stand scary movies, but this was funny!
  12. February 14! Would you like to be copied on the meetup PMs? :)
  13. You didn't forget the rose though, right? That would have clearly been wrong.
  14. On a cruise several years ago, I wore a dressy black pant suit to one of the formal dinners. Later that night, I passed one of the many mirrors in the hall and caught a glimpse of my outfit. My white panties and bra were clearly visible through the apparently sheer black material. I could have sworn the material was not the least bit sheer, but there it was. Guess the lighting was very different in the room. I promptly chewed out DH for not telling me, and he swore he hadn't noticed. Moral of the story: always, always wear black underthings under dark outfits. As an added benefit, you'll always be ready for a party to break out and the black lights to come on. :D
  15. Riiiiiight.... So intent on what you were telling him. Just kidding. I'm sure it was fine. :)
  16. Even better!! I'd love to meet up! :) We'll actually be out of town for the Grand Opening (Feb 14 - I wouldn't have gone on Valentine's Day anyway), but I could go anytime after February 20. Maybe Tuesday, February 25, since you mentioned that Tuesdays work well for you? Looks like the Trader Joe's in Greenwood Village will be the closest to us. I'll PM you. If any other Colorado boardies want to join in on this Trader Joe's pilgrimage/boardie meetup, chime in! The more, the merrier! :p
  17. That's because we're probably too busy telling people how awesome we are in person. You know, at large social gatherings where we flit about extroverting ourselves. :tongue_smilie:
  18. Isn't that the essence of Pinterest though? Pinning a million things all aligned to a singular theme? Why would the introvert meme be any different? I'm an extrovert, and I dislike Pinterest, FWIW. :p
  19. Trader Joe's is finally coming to Colorado this February! They're opening three locations (two in Denver and one in Boulder) on February 14th, with two additional locations (Denver & Fort Collins) opening later this year. The closest one will still be an hour away from me, but I'm already planning a pilgrimage. :p
  20. This is not something I've ever experienced with either of my kids. As others have suggested, it sounds like some kind of memory, sequencing, or processing problem.
