Remember that thing I said about not letting DH see? Geez, it is so valid. Last week, DD and I went through some bins in the basement, partially because I knew there was junk to declutter and partially to free up some bins for her to take to college. (I refuse to buy any new storage tubs.) she stumbled accross a whole bunch of participation trophies. All of my kids have played multiple sports since they were very young. Fortunately, she doesn't care one jot about those trophies and she unceramoniously dumped them all in a big contractor's trashbag. I took the bag out and put it beside the trashcan in the garage; it was too heavy and awkward to go in the can.
Trash went out yesterday. dH didn't put the bag out. Yesterday, I cleaned out the garage and put some more trash in the big bag. I told DH, "you know, that bag is trash and was supposed to go out yesterday." He's all horrified and says, "I looked in the bag. It's full of trophies!" Yeah. So? Fortunately, he did not press the point beyond my explanation that they are DD's trophies, she doesn't want them, *I* certainly don't want them, and they are therefore trash.
Trophies suck. I wish they would just get tee shirts or water bottles instead.
Get this. FIL gave us a bunch of plaques and trophies he won in golf tournaments. Why :confused1: I asked dh why and he said "he wants us to have something of his". So now I have a stack of these things. UGH

I had and wore my high school ring until I started working where it wasn't a good idea to wear while working. Then I got out of the habit. Never had a college ring.
I have asked dss if they want a class ring.
Ds1 said "no way" I feel kinda guilty because I haven't looked at them for him. But he said no and I figured it would be a waste of money. Same kid also said he doesn't want to do the "whole graduation thing". Just hand him a diploma and say he graduated. That is what he wants.
Ds2 has a ways to go but right now he says he wants the ring.

Oh. My. Goodness! That is stupid!
The teen years bodies go though all kinds of changes and a grade depending on their BMI just makes me :cursing: :cursing:

I have been pretending to shop. Online, looking at stuff, putting it in my cart then x'ing off. Would love to be able to buy the things I want and be done (these items are on sale too) but there is no money available.
At least I am thinking.

To much stuff
Not enough closets (old house = small closets & no closets)
I am lazy -- there I admitted it

Tomatoes
Tomato relish -- really good on peas, purple hull, black eyed, crowder etc.
Jalapeños -- for eating on things and the pepper sauce it makes on turnip greens
Salsa -- maybe
Corn -- never canned (always freeze) but might have access to free this year and no freezer space
Pickled okra
Tomatoes are the only thing I have canned so far. The rest is future thing

Thank you people. Now I want ice cream, REALLY bad  We have none in the house and no way to get any. Oh well I guess I don't need it.
Really ice cream depends on my mood. Mostly we get vanilla to appease everyone.
Some of my favorites are:
Moosetracks
Chubby Hubby
Praline & Cream
Peanut butter
Coffee
Cookies and Cream
Strawberry
Peach
And, and, and, and. :drool5:
Man I want some ice cream

Having boys and their friends over means usually daily. I voted 4-6 because sometimes I will skip a day. But generally everyday.

I loved St Louis. :)
The suggestions above are great. I'm partial to the arch/museum underneath, and Cahokia.
But here's the Must Do: Ted Drewe's. Find one. Stand in (a long) line. Order the most delicious ice cream (it might be frozen custard? I can't remember.)... Savor it. Seriously. Don't miss it.
I forgot we went here too. Stood in a long line. Then sat in the car eating while watching a wedding party (full wedding clothes) get out of a bus and get in line. Yes the bride and groom were 1st ones out of the bus and in line.

We went a few years ago. Things we did
Tour Cardinal stadium
Went to Arch -- we didn't go up, 2 of us are claustrophobic, (I went up back when I was young and remember it though). But we walked around the arch and did the underground Museum
Riverboat tour
Budweiser brewery tour -- very interesting and cool -- and saw the Clydesdale, lots of cool facts and cool old buildings
Grant's Farm
Zoo
Science Center
St Louis has LOTS to see and do.

I read the title and said Monopoly  Really don' t like that game. Takes forever and ever notice how no one plays that game by the same rules?
Ds like Monopoly. He can only get me to play with him (and I have to be in a really good mood).
Sorry and battleship I like
Operation, clue and checkers are ok
Candyland and Chutes and Ladders I tolerate with a small child
I do not like the new battleship or new clue. If we are going to play I pull out my old games from childhood.

Home cooked meals -- most nights
Meals eaten at table as a family -- most nights,, Sometimes we eat in the living room or wherever you want to eat
Cloth napkins -- yes just because we like them. Are they fancy and match, heck no
Table cloth -- nope but I have used them before, the ones that are flannel on back and vinyl on top -- real fancy ;)
Course -- No way. Most time I sit everything on the table (sometimes in the pots  ) sometimes it is left on the stove and you fix your plate buffet style
Dressing for dinner -- must have on clothes of some sort and a shirt
Extended family meals are always buffet style.
Ironing sheets    what is this iron you speak of???

Rare to get snow here. Depends on the amount we get and the forecast as to whether we take a full day or a partial day.

Instant potatoes
---- butter, sour cream, garlic powder (or garlic salt but leave out regular salt), pepper and salt.
---- cream cheese
----mayo, salt & pepper
---- after adding in other stuff add a little bacon bits and shredded cheese
Use the potatoes to thicken soup.
Oats
--- chocolate oatmeal no bake cookies
---- breakfast cookies -- uses oats, banana, applesauce and a couple more ingredients
---- add to meatloaf instead of crackers

I generally make a photo card for the grandparents. Some years I have printed them off myself but most years I do a card thru Walgreens or somewhere. Usually has a coupon code to make a personalized card pretty cheap.
-
I haven't used it yet but I just got the card. I "bought" the card at Walmart (they normally cost but are free until bluebird stops doubling - sometime this month). I had to put some money on it when I bought it so I put $1 on it. Came home and registered it and transferred my savings catcher to it. A few days later I got my actual card in the mail.

If it's a good book I can block out almost anything.

I have trained my kids and myself (for the most part) to cough into our shirts. (pull the top of our shirts up over our mouths) I told them it keeps the germs from flying out on others plus keeps your hands a clear.
-
And thank y'all for reminding me of a little treat I bought and hid the other day. No one is home at the moment :w00t:

No, but cold chocolate/candy isn't satisfying to me. It needs to be room temp so it can get creamy and melty quickly.
Empty coffee can in the cabinet
Rarely used solid (not clear) casserole dish (with lid) sitting on the shelf
No idea why I would think of those to things ;)
