  1. I didn't know Fess Parker died. I will have to tell dss.

My boys LOVE Davy Crockett too.

Along with several books about him they have the dvd's, a gun like his (old Betsy), the coon skin caps and I wish I could sew to make them real costumes.

One year for Halloween I sewed fringe on a tan colored sweat suit (dyed it that color) and they wore their coon skin caps and carried their guns. Most people didn't know who they were or called them Daniel Boone. They couldn't get over that people didn't know who Davy Crockett was.

Oh and Light in the Forest is another favorite around here.

  2. We usually school on the porch when it is nice. We have a table for "book work". Some nice chairs for reading and oral work.

Also they do "tree school". Sometimes they will sit in the tree and I sit in a lawn chair underneath to do reading or oral work. They have taken their workbooks into the tree and done their math. Not always the neatest work but if they do it correctly I am fine with a little messy.

  3. Get every year in basket

Chocolate bunny (small $1 hollow one)

Reese's eggs (buy 1 bag and split between the 2 of them)

Jelly beans (just a few -- mom gets the rest :D )

    Package of Peeps

Beef Jerky (they really like it but don't get it often -- also helps balance sweets )

    Hot wheel type car

Reese's, jelly beans and any other small candy is put in the colored plastic eggs. Oh the cars are too. That way the basket looks really full but really isn't.

    Stuff from past years

    Other candies

Outdoor stuff (frisbee, water gun, bubbles, sidewalk chalk etc)

DS game (if I find them cheap)

Wireless controller for ps2 (one year)

Shared items -- sat between baskets

    DVD

    PS2 or Wii game

Sheets (yep bed sheets -- found a cool set they were wanting on clearence one year so the Easter bunny brought them ;))

  4. I have a bunch of them. All kinds and colors. I bought them at yard sales and a very few new off clearence racks. They are kept folded in a basket in the dining room.

How often we change them depends on the meal. Non messy meals we use the same napkin all day, then tossed in the dirty towel basket after supper. If they get messy we change them. No big deal.

  5. I have quite a bit of cast iron. Most of it was inherited and that works out just fine for me. I think most are Lodge too.

I have a couple skillets I use just for cornbread. Then the rest are for cooking.

Some of mine even have wooden handles over the metal handles. Those came from my dad. Not sure where he got them.
