    summer sausage

    beef jerky

    granola bars

Cokes - those round Christmas ones

    squirt cheese in a can

    jars of fruit

    popcorn

powder drink mixes - or those liquid squirt ones

    ice cream toppings

    toothbrush

    crosswords &  word search books

    book - to read

    earbuds

    finger nail file

    hand sanitizer

    lotion

    chapstick

    flashlight

Little toys -- like those wooden toys where there is a ball on a string and try to catch it in the little wooden cup, the peg game like at Cracker Barrel, those magnetic ones where you put hair on the bald guy etc.

  2. I have been to the freaking store every day this week.  I went Friday so I wouldn't have to go this week.  Really. Ugh.  I am not forgetful (well not that bad) We have 2 dinners to go to.  I was told what to bring.  Then things were added to my list.

We won't have leftovers since we are eating away from home.

  3. You mean she bagged in plastic ignoring your bags or she bagged it, but put things in bags differently than the way you laid it out.

If she totally ignored your bags I would have stopped her and told her to put it in your bags, and then told her manager because that is past rude.

She used my bags but just put it In whatever bag she happened to jerk up.   I have had cashiers move my bags over and start bagging in plastic bags.  I do stop them and ask them (nicely) to please use my bags.

Honest I try to be nice, smile at cashier, dc hold up anything heavy so they don't have to lift it and hold bags open etc.  Even when they make comments like "I don't why you want to use those cloth bags". I smile and say "they keep the grocery from rolling all over the van and they are better for the environment".

  4. Thought about this thread yesterday. Went to Walmart yesterday. Laid my stuff on the belt in little piles with my bag on each pile. I do have different size bags but I know how much will fit in each bag so I stack it that way.

Cashier picks up my bags & lay them on the little table where customers would write check etc. Then starts ringing up my groceries and sitting them on the urban tumbleweed. She just kept ringing and piling. She was expecting me to bag.

Some days I might have bagged it but the cashier had a bit to much attitude (eye rolling at bags, huffing etc) so I stayed busy digging in my purse. She bagged the stuff but not in the bags I wanted and huffed while doing it.

  5. And here I thought it was just me.  Seems almost every time I go into Walmart they don't like using my bags. Hateful attitude about using my bags (huffing, slinging stuff etc. ), trying to leave it for me to bag, making smart aleck comments to other customers about my bags.

I lay the stuff on the belt and the bag I want it in on top of that pile.  Yes it seems like I am being picky but I am trying to make it easier.  When they start bagging my children will go over and hold the bag open then when full move it to the cart.

There is one checker that I love to go to.  She is always happy, never complains about my bags etc.  I will stand in her line even if it is long especially if the other lane open is the checker that is so hateful about using my bags.

  6. I try to be a good gift giver.  Much like Kebo  I think about the person and what they like and need.

For example I know BIL likes a certain hamburger joint but rarely goes ($$).  So I gave him a gift certificate to that place.  He was thrilled.   MIL likes a certain body wash & lotion but never has the extra money for it.  I bought her a HUGE bottle of each.

Sometimes my gifts are more practical or run of the mill (like giving mil 12 pack Pepsi and box of microwave popcorn for her birthday)  (or brother an emergency kit for the car) but mil loves those snacks and money had been tight, no room for extras and brother was doing a lot of traveling at the time.  Both seemed happy with those gifts.

I love giving gifts and wish I had the money to give more.  Not just to family and friends but I think it would be fun to give things to others in need ------without them knowing.

  7. Enjoy your wine ! Enjoy your booze ! Enjoy your freedom !

Beer is also good to cook with - I saute onions in butter and beer before they go into chowder, and I also add beer to beans and chili.

Never added beer to chili but I do cook my turkey with a beer. Easy peasy, put turkey in roasting pan. Open beer, take a drink, pour littlee over turkey and the rest in cavity. Cover with foil or lid. Bake turkey according to temp & time on packaging. Comes out moist & yummy.

  8. Generally put the tree up the day before Thanksgiving.

Use to be would put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving but one year we were going to be gone.  The following week was going to be crazy busy too.  I love my tree and the lights are so relaxing at night so I went ahead and put the tree up.

Decided I liked doing it that way. I could enjoy the time from Thanksgiving to New Year's.  (usually do the other Christmas decorations after Thanksgiving, just the tree before)

Dh doesn't help with the tree.  Now my bunch is big enough to help so that makes it better.
