  1. I weighed myself and took measurements already. Lost another three inches but that darn weight didn't move much! Having a breakfast of some hardboiled eggs and an orange. After schoolwork going to run to the grocery store for lots of healthy food for the week.
  2. Thank you everyone, this has been a great help to me. :)
  3. Thank you for all replies so far. Nope not in Virginia---we're in N.E. Wisconsin!
  4. I know people on these boards have pulled their children out of public schools. Are there any here who have pulled their children out of private christian schools---even if they were small schools and would you mind sharing why? We have an option this year of sending DD6 who is ahead in most subjects but really don't believe the school when they say they will put the child in the older classes for certain subjects. We've talked with parents who went there and "that's what they say...not what they do". I'm really torn on what to do because academics at home are wonderful but we live so far out of town that it's not possible for DD to be in many extra curriculars. I'm thinking if we put her in school just for the social aspects we are going to be in trouble with bad behaviors or other problems. Don't know they will happen but from reading stuff on these boards and other homeschooling boards, I'm thinkin' they could. MY DD is just so social, much moreso than I. She'd chose to go to school but you know, I'm the Mom and my husband is leaving the decision totally up to me. Sorry, I'm rambling, I hope this makes sense. Thanks!
  5. Oh my goodness! This reminds me of when I worked at a bakery in a grocery store! I had to wear my hair pulled all back into HAIRNET and a hat with a full apron over my regular clothes. I still had comments and got offers for date made to me by guys who worked in the dairy and MEAT DEPT!!!!
  6. You're right! Hmm- lets see- turning the lights down just a bit, add some music and a female body swaying right next to them---NAAH, that wouldn't tempt any guy to think "sinful" thoughts at all!:lol::lol:
  7. I just LOOVE attiudes like that!:glare: They must have lots of extra free time to take on the job of "Fashion Police".
  8. I hear ya. I hate those rules too. I hear women in our homeschool groups talking to others about how certain women who dress only in dresses and long skirts and have a ton of children are EXCELLENT witnesses for Christ. Yes, what you wear determines how Holy you are to them I guess. I've spent too many years following what "OTHERS" think or feel a good christian girl should look like. :glare: Finally free to follow Christ and be myself!:) Btw..last night was a prom for one of the schools in our area. About 30 to 45 couples were at the restaurant and really only one dress I saw was a bit questionable. And these were (gasp!) PUBLIC SCHOOL KIDS!
  9. So far the pace and repition is great for us, my dd is 6 and it's perfect for her.
  10. Gee!!!! We all must live in the same general area!!;) I was checkin' to see where she was from too! SO GLAD to hear that I am not alone on this!
  11. I guess I just assumed they would keep her in first grade as when we were showed the classrooms and met the teacher they said that the first grade teacher would be hers. We had neighbor friends who went there and they were told that if the child in question was preforming at a higher level, say in math, that they would just go to the next grades classroom for math but it never happened. I don't know if I'd have to ask them to test her or just bring in all of her completed CLE Grade 1 math to show them or what.
  12. I am SO in--have lost 25 so far and have 10 more to go. Just let me know, I'm THERE!!!!
  13. Yes! I think it was the worst around 5, she's only 6 now but there is a really big improvement. I notice a nice quiet break for us all after she gets back from a playdate at the neighbors. Hang on, I am so with ya!:grouphug:
  14. Yep, me too, this was part of my problem. I was just putting way too much food in my mouth when I was tired, stress, bored, happy...whatever. I eat alot less than I used to. I know that if I want to KEEP looking this way, I'm going to have to continue eating in the same way. Ain't NO way I'm going back!
  15. Could some of this be extra water weight he may have been carrying? I have spoken a few times with a lady who gets men and women ready for fitness and bodybuilding competitions and it's not uncommon to lose 5 to 8 pounds a week for someone who was/is overweight. Also your Uncle could be in a strict calorie deficit which really has been what has helped me. Finally men do lose faster than women cause of having more muscle mass and a slightly higher metabolism:glare::lol:! FWIW I have lost 25 pounds and it took me 6 months to lose....so I hear ya!
  16. I hear ya, I thought I was 15 lbs lighter than I was. Don't worry, you can get back into eating for your goals. Do you prefer the diet you mentioned? I ask because I know many diets work, the one that will work for you is the one you will enjoy staying on. Oh yes, also never give up, no matter how many times you fall up the proverbial wagon DO NOT GIVE UP and don't beat yourself up about it like I used to do. I did that so many times and never lost the weight. I used to be a size 12 and now size 6's are starting to get big on me!!! I have stopped doing all diets because it puts me in a mentality that I don't like. I make sure I am in a calorie deficit that is my ownly requirement. However, I do try and chose fruits and veggies as much as I can.
  17. Really good advice, ya got me thinkin':001_smile:
