  1. oh my goodness thank u 4 all the prayers &support. I typing on an itouch & it doesnt work well for typing. Dd is doing better had an extreme reaction to poison ivy after all. When we got there I tried not to cry bcause I barely could see the slit of her eye anymore. She almost didnt look like my child. But the swelling IS going down praise God. Looks like we may need to keep an epi pen with us at all times. Thank you all so so much. I feel so grateful to have alll this support. Now just waiting 4 the doctor in the morning to let us know what the next step is.
  2. My dd6 is in the hospital, it started out yesterday as what we thought was poison ivy. This morning she woke up at 5:30 with her eyes swollen shut and with a huge puffy face. DH took her to the emergency room. She was fine until she saw her face and then started crying. At the emergency room they gave her a shot to bring down the swelling but they are going to admit her as they don't know what's causing this, they figure an allergic reaction of some sort and don't want her breathing to stop. They are going to at least keep her overnight. My son and I are leaving for the hospital now but I figure we can use as many prayers as possible! Thanks Jennifer
  3. Oh I heard about 3 years ago that the higher waisted pants were supposed to be coming back into fashion. Haven't seen 'em yet...at least not where I live...and really...with the whole "mom jean" debacle I don't think there would be TOO high of demand for them but, I could be wrong. I love my low rise jeans (no too low though!)
  4. Oh man, here I am sitting at home cryin' for ya! I am sorry to hear of your loss, especially the way it came. I am glad you did get to talk to him yesterday. I will pray for peace and comfort for your family today okay?:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
  5. Gee, anyone know when we started??? I'll be able to tell ya if I have the date of when this all began. I record everything!
  6. I have been thinking along the same lines as the OP. SIGH, I just have a hard time when it comes to that Bible verse that says to think on things above, not things of the earth. Well, that seems so hard for me. I know to think about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and of their attributes, but I can do that for only so long, and it seems like there is just SO much to think about now, on the earth that it's hard for me to think of things above....does this make sense???
  7. I'm interested too since I joined a fitness competition and I need to keep burning the calories in any fun way I can!
  8. Scary but exciting at the same time I bet! Cool!!:001_smile:
  9. goals? aspirations???? I am reading "write it down, make it happen" and psycho cybernetics and just am so shocked that I feel I don't have any goals or dreams of my own. Sure, right now homeschooling is the major thing in my life.....but what about me??? I just don't know... what are your dreams or goals outside of the homeschooling raising your family realm???
  10. Is there a proper percentage for tipping hairstylists?? I have never went to the beauty shop till 9 months ago. I've found a lady who does amazing things with my hair.....not sure if I am giving her too much or too little though.. Any thoughts?? Also if she cuts my 3 yr olds hair at the same time, would I give her the same size tip as for cutting my own?? Sorry, I am just CLUELESS when it comes to stuff like this. Thanks!
  11. I don't know how this happened! My sister and her family live in MN but somehow Adam will be on the show that airs this week or next. I just realized I have no way of taping this! Is it possible to tape tv shows nowadays when vhs is pretty much obsolete and I don't have tevo??
  12. My DH was asked to bein his friends wedding. This would be his friends first marriage and the wife has been married at least once. They decided that for the reception they were going to have a "picnic in the park" reception. The invite says "Park attire appropriate and appreciated for the picnic." Do I REALLY wear what I would wear when I bring my family to the park from a picnic? Because, that's a t-shirt and jeans or capri's. :001_huh: I'd at least like to wear an everyday sundress since there IS a church wedding. What would you wear?? I do not know the bride to be...and I don't get the chance to talk to or even see the groom much. I don't want to be overdressed OR underdressed. Help!
  13. Oh no! We do, I just made my DD wait till she was AT LEAST 5 yrs old. I think she has 3 now, and maybe 3 outfits?? They aren't such a big deal in our house. Oh and yes, I agree with the poster who mentioned that if you ban Barbies....you're going to have to keep explaining yourself each and every year till she's too old for them anyway. People didn't get my reasonings, and I realized I was making a big deal over them anyway too. Wasn't a hill to die on for us. But..to each their own!
  14. :D That's funny!! For a while I was worried if my daughter was going to be affected by how Barbie looks, yes, she is a bit out of proportion but THERE ARE women who are NATURALLY big chested and have smaller waists. I am one of them (okay not a teeny waist but 27" is smaller I'd think)...and when my dd his puberty...if she has my genes...well, she will too. I think sometimes I think these things out too much. I played Barbies till I was 12 or so...and I never thought for one minute about wanting to look like her or compare myself to her. None of that happened till high school and I sure wasn't compairing myself to BARBIE ...Barbie had nothing to do with it. For the record....I can jump on trampolines and do anything anyone else does... I may have to wear two sports bra's so I don't jiggle but it hasn't stopped me from livin'!:lol:
  15. Wow, thank you everyone for your input. We SURE are re-evaluating our decisions. I don't think it's very smart for us to put her into a school where she won't be challenged just to have some social activities. So glad this board is here for me!
  16. I like it! Sounds fun. Would it be possible to show pictures of children working on projects or doing circle time? One thing that might not be too big of an issue is the wording after the registration fee, I might not say what you are going to use the $ for. Most places just state that they have a fee. So far, so good!
  17. I don't have many constructive things to add so I'll give ya a:grouphug:. Hope the next day goes better for ya.
  18. Yesterday went well. Today I am fasting my lunch and snacks. I have to be at the dentist late afternoon and probably wont be hungry anyway. Dinner is a big salad while watching the biggest loser. I'm just working on eating less, no strict diets. I do what I can each day. I won't weigh myself till after A.F. No sense in getting upset for nothing huh??? I do check my measurements weekly though.
  19. NO, profanity doesn't sound pretty, we don't allow it, but its no where near adultery for us either. I won't crucify ya!:D
  20. Yes, I have heard others in our homeschool group talk like this. One lady told the group of ladies that she saw another woman in walmart with a long skirt on and many children. She said she went up to the lady and thanked her for her wonderful "Christian witness" and example for others. 'Scuse me??? The skirt and many children make her holy?? Because really, that's all the lady knew of the other shopper. Please!:glare:
  21. What cruiseline is this through? We are diehard DISNEY cruisers, so we'd be hard pressed to change, but it does sound interesting! Nevermind--sorry I didn't see the link. Thanks!
  22. Oh I agree with you Jean. I just figured what I was going to say was going to get taken out of context. I don't get why some think that mens minds are always in the gutter like they only are lusting blubbering idiots who cannot control themselves. You know, I am a very visual person. I can look at someone who is handsome and just move on. The thoughts don't have to happen and if they did it would be my fault and mine to deal with. I agree with you on the VS adds. My DH will say they are sleazy or roll his eyes at them. Women shouldn't be made to feel that they should be worried all the time that what they are wearing MIGHT cause someone to lust. We answer to God for ourselves, not what others may or may not be thinkin'. Oh and the girl sitting in the church pew, I wouldn't have thought she was/looked naked. She was at church, of course she's wearing clothes!! Eh' maybe that's just me?
  23. Oh and wait...we forgot about backsides--they'll have to wear really baggy pants---I mean...I was a good christian girl so I never looked "THERE"!!! Ya right!!
