  1. Mini quiches in cupcake papers baked in muffin tin. Baked oatmeal (lots of yummy recipes online), cut in squares and frozen, lots of healthy muffin recipes, too. These quinoa spinach bars freeze well, too.
  2. If this is the same bug I had, the good news is that it doesn't last too long! I hope you're feeling better soon. :grouphug:
  3. My mom started nursing school at age 48. She worked as a nurse for 12 years before retiring.
  4. We park in the back of our house, so I can see what's behind my car when I get in. But, if I'm somewhere else, especially if I know kids have been playing in the area, I most certainly do check to see that nothing/no one is behind my car. My niece was riding her bike and rode up a neighbor's driveway. The neighbor started backing up at the time. He knocked her over and she and the bike went under his pickup. Fortunately, the pickup was high and he was backing straight up. She was unharmed, but emotionally traumatized. So, yes. I always make sure there's nothing behind me when I back up.
  5. I think you can't truly know if something is organic unless you grow it yourself, or you can go visit the farm and see how it is grown. That's why I'm a huge fan of the CSA idea. I love that we can go visit the co-op farms that grow our food.
  6. Our is just under 2000 square feet. I think the size would be fine if the rooms were more practical. The bedrooms are very large. I trade some of the bedroom space and our hardly used sunroom for another bathroom (we have one full and one half) and a family room.
  7. I used to get sinus infections, too. Haven't had one in several years. I attribute it to all the changes I've made in my diet, including green smoothies.
  8. You can put it in some water and mix in some honey. I just take it straight, but I'm crazy like that! I also add it to my salads with some flax oil instead of salad dressing. There's a recipe for Health Drink on the side of the Bragg's bottle. That would work, too.
  9. I think you should talk to the parents, and hopefully they will talk to him about the inappropriateness of his request. I don't think it is unusual for him to still be curious about that stuff at age 7. Maybe his parents have no idea what he's doing, and they can get him a library book or something to satisfy his curiosity. My 8 year old just asked me a question about how girls can urinate with no p3nis, so I don't think the curiosity goes away that quickly. ETA: Well, it sounds like there may be more to the story, but I'd still talk to the parents. And maybe inform him yourself that if he asks to see anybody's private parts, he's going to have to go home.
  10. Netti Pot, local to him raw honey, Bragg's Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, Raw Garlic- those will all help to keep the sinuses healthy.
  11. He'll occasionally thank me for making a meal, but never really comments on anything else I do.
  12. I'm a complete satisficer. Maximizers drive me nutty! Just make a decision, gosh darn it!!!
  13. Usually once a day, but sometimes twice a day if our meals require more dishes. I cook at home most of the time. I don't put in most pots and pans.
  14. I don't think the chard is that noticeable. Kale is a little more noticeable, but easy to get used to if you build up the amounts gradually.
  15. And, if you're on Pinterest, just search for green smoothies. You should get load of ideas.
  16. In the summer I manage my produce budget by purchasing a CSA share. In the winter, I pretty much bite the bullet and spend lots on fresh produce. I do try to make meal plans in advance so there is not a lot of wasted produce.
  17. I use frozen fruit to save on cost. The smoothie I make most has frozen mango, frozen strawberries, frozen blueberries, swiss chard (or other greens), a scoop of green superfood powder, and most recently, chia seeds. I just add a couple of cups of water until it blends smoothly. I made one the other day with frozen mango, frozen pineapple, coconut water and curly red kale. That was mighty tasty.
  18. I haven't read all the replies, but as an aunt who has been responsible for much of the care of one of my nieces, especially before she went to school, I do understand. I don't think it's at all weird that you wanted to measure her. That is something a mother should do, or should take her daughter to have someone else do. I know as well as anyone that sometimes that role falls to the aunt when the mother isn't doing it. Preteens are moody. My niece was here on President's because she didn't have school. She's in an eye-rolling phase. If I suggest something remotely embarrassing to her, I get the eye rolls and silent treatment. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
  19. Murano is worth the trip if you like the glass stuff. Season's list will give you plenty to do for 2 days! Enjoy!
  20. That is heartbreaking. Peace and love to you.
