  1. Paid the registration fee but haven't got my logins yet - do I need to do "make a payment" for the first month first? I was just waiting on an email back but haven't gotten anything. I probably did something wrong lol.
  2. Junior Year (11th) AP English Lang - AIM Academy, Lili Serbicki AP Comp Science A - Edhesive Regular Physics - NDCDE (They use Accelerate Ed's content) AP Calc AB - Derek Owens AP Euro Hist - PAH, Hannah Donohue AP Spanish Lang - APEX 1 DE class in the Fall and another in Spring
  3. MrDmath also has a self-paced option -- it's a one time fee of $197 for access for a whole year. I've done one course with live sessions and another without. The live sessions are always nice because there's a set pace and he goes through the material that needs to be known for the week, but it's not necessary. I often found myself just watching the prerecorded videos rather than attending them live. Plus, you can work ahead with the self-paced option and it's very affordable. Derek Owens is also great! I'm using him for Calculus this year (:
  4. Mr D Math! Just finished up a Summer Pre-Calc course with him.
  5. Looking into taking AP Spanish wit MiddleBury. There is no selfpaced version, so it comes with teacher support -- does anyone know exactly what that means? Under their FAQ, they state that "Middlebury Interactive teachers serve a similar role as typical classroom teachers. Our teachers guide students in their learning by providing ongoing support, communication and encouragement, as well as feedback in personalized feedback on speaking and writing assignments. They quickly establish a strong rapport with students and continue to engage and assist them throughout the course. Middlebury Interactive's teachers are state-certified, highly proficient second-language users." I still am unclear. Is it similar to Homeschool Spanish Academy where there is live interaction or are they really only there for grading and providing help when needed? I'm hoping the latter. I really want something more hands off and self-paced because Spanish is not a strong suit -- will most likely not take the AP exam in May. One on one dicussion is a weak point and it'd cause a ton of stress so that's what I'm trying to avoid. I know there are other options but I am following a-g (California resident) and my charter school will fund to *only* approved online vendors so I'm very limited.
  6. Title pretty much explains it all. I'll be doing a homegeown course for AP European History. It will be a combination of Shmoop, Tom Richey's videos, essay writing, and textbook readings. Now I'm just looking for a textbook that will be suffecient (:
  7. Totally forgot there was a thread of courses -- thank you, lol (:
  8. Looking for an online vendor to take a Spanish 4 class -- not interested in adding another AP. I was originally going to take it at UCscout but they took out premium and now charge $399 per semester for their teacher-led classes.
  9. BlueTent offers Honors Chemistry https://www.bluetentonline.com/honors-chemistry Bearean Builders offers the same as well https://bereanbuilders.com/ecomm/online-classes/ Mr. Moskaluk (I've heard based on reviews) is an amazing Chemistry teacher. I don't think he'd link anyone that wouldn't provide a great class - I'd go with Clover Valley for sure. But that's just my take!
  10. Did you unenroll from PAH because of the same reason? I wish there was more insight on Mrs. Donohue's AP Euro class with PAH. I'm not sure if she was just unprepared because it was last minute, and she was pregnant. I looked at HSLDA but they have live sessions which would be difficult for me to attend.
  11. I’ve only heard great reviews. This is so disappointing, but I’m glad you said something. I’m going to pm you ?
  12. Hello! I have no idea, but I've paid and signed up already. Last year, she opened up registration in July and most kids had already made plans. Registration was opened late April this year, so I believe she will get at least 5 students. I'm not worrying about it! It was mentioned that there will be no problem running the class this year, and I'm guessing that's based on how many emails and questions she gets on her courses. I hope you sign up! I'm almost 100% sure that this class will run, and I hope it does. Are there any other online AP Euro courses you are taking into consideration? I'm still looking for a backup, and I can't find a decent one. The class with PAH got some terrible feedback.
  13. I took AP Chem and AP Psych with Acellus. The AP Chem class was terrible, so I had to supplement with Thinkwell's curriculum (Thank you, Thinkwell). AP Psych was OK, it's one of the easier APs anyway. The program is easy. Not sure how to exactly describe it, but their content feels like it's bare minimum for accrediation and approval. There are no active teachers; the student learns everything by pre-recorded videos with teachers. The Academy option does have an active teacher, but they never answer and Acellus changed the price to 500/month (yikes). Not worth it at all - the $9.99 option has everything the same, just no teacher or diploma from Acellus. If you're looking to get a class over with, Acellus is perfect for that. Not very rigorous but it gives a great overview of everything needed. Acellus is very simple - watch a video then answer problems. There are unit tests, a midterm, and a final exam. THAT IS IT. No worksheets, essays, or anything else required. They do have these worksheets called "special lessons" but it's completely optional - it does not factor into the grade unless the student is in Academy mode. I will pm you a demo (aka my account I don't use lol). Not every single course is approved, so make sure to check their a-g list: https://hs-articulation.ucop.edu/agcourselist#/list/details/4533/ If anyone else would like more information or would like a demo, pm me. I have it till the beginning of June.
  14. Yes. They are accredited by WASC which is the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. I'm not a fan because their AP courses are not comprehensive at all, but their classes are still good - good enough to be UC a-g approved and accredited by WASC (and it's not easy either). What I love is that it's all video based. Here's a list of High School History classes: https://www.acellusacademy.com/browse-courses/#hs-courses It's $9.99 a month with up to 6 classes at a time, so would you like a demo? I can pm you the information since I'm done with all my classes. It costs nothing for me and I'm not using the account anymore so it's just there. It'll end in a couple of weeks, but since it's still up; you can look around and check it out for yourself. Just let me know! (:
  15. Acellus. It's $9.99 a month. I wouldn't reccomend it for anything unless you just want to get a subject done and over with. This program is pretty easy, I'm sure he will fly through the coursework.
  16. I emailed and got a sample week from both courses! Would you like me to send them to you? Just pm me (-:
  17. Would you consider an online AP course? There's Noah Nation. They offer both AP World History and AP European History - it's taught by AP graders. https://www.noahnation.org/ap-online-homeschool-courses Circonline offers history courses as well: http://www.clrconline.com/high-school-history-courses/ I believe WellTrainedMind has some too, but their website isn't loading for me.
  18. Definitely AP Psychology. It's one of the more easier, yet interesting AP's. I took it this year, and I enjoyed the class. AP Environmental Science is supposed to be easy as well. There's also AP Bio and AP Euro, but those are pretty challenging - the amount of rigor heavily relies on the where the course is taken.
  19. Title pretty much says it all. I can't decide between taking the AP English Lang class with Bluetent (Brigid Thompson) or AIM Academy (Lili Serbicki). If anyone has any suggestions, that'd be lovely! https://www.bluetentonline.com/ap-english-language-and-composition or https://debrabell.com/product/ap-english-language/ Lili Serbicki teaches AP Lit at PAH Homeschoolers - students rave about her class. Her optional live sessions have peaked my interest as well. On the other hand, there's Bluetent! I'm taking Honors English 2 with them at the moment, so I'm already accustomed to their classes. With Bluetent, there was a lot of reading on my own and hardly any video lectures, so it'd be nice to have some more live/recorded lessons, rather than a bunch of reading from a textboook. Listed under the AP Lang core materials is a 1200 page textbook...
  20. The UC a-g list counts it as 2 full years of Spanish, so it must be. Might wanna call and find out which Rosetta Stone levels articulate to the 2 years of spanish, that way you don't need to do more than what's required (: https://hs-articulation.ucop.edu/agcourselist#/list/details/4675/
