  1. Hello Donna, I am just beginning the homeschool journey with my one and only ds(4) - we are in week 8 of PreK/K4 - and although we have just begun, I have our schedules and curriculum listed on our blog (see sig. line below) that you're welcome to take a look at and see if you find any useful information/links to help enlighten you. I have found this forum to be a very helpful resource in researching schedules, ideas, real life, curriculums, etc.
  2. We're up, enjoy! :001_smile: Melissa
  3. We're up... I followed others' lead with flashbacks! I found them at the grandparent's house! :001_smile: Melissa
  4. You may do whatever you like with this information, but I thought I'd share it... The Evidence Against Soy This may be interesting to you as well... World's Most Evil Company Debates Michael Pollan at Google :001_smile: Melissa
  5. We're up... more of a bi-weekly again, so it is lengthy. :001_smile: Melissa
  6. I really like the 70 Basic Phonogram CD by Wanda and Gary Sanseri, from the Spell to Write and Read program. It includes the 26 letters of the alphabet as well as multi-letter phonograms. :001_smile: Melissa
  7. Thank you, Ladies! I believe I'll go with the CD Rom. :001_smile: Melissa
  8. I need to make a decision and am hoping that the Hive can help. I intend to purchase ReadyWriter. I found it on Rainbow Resource for $15.75. I also found the MasterPak I CD Rom for $20.25, which includes ReadyWriter as well as CalcuLadders 1-3. I do like the thought of having the CalcuLadders for a resource in the future... so should I spend the extra money and purchase the MasterPak instead? Those of you who have MasterPak I or II on CD Rom... do you like it or do you wish you would have purchased the individually printed versions instead? Any advice you may have is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Melissa
  9. Thank you for the link... I requested the samples and am still considering DEL and ReadyWriter regardless of the price. Thanks again, :001_smile: Melissa
  10. Thank you for sharing... they did seem pricey to me as well. I'm sure I could just use what I have or find something less expensive... but these do interest me. Thanks again, Melissa
  11. Thank you for your responses, ladies. I had seen on these forums where others have/are using FLL in K and was just curious about it. Thanks again! :001_smile: Melissa
  12. I plan on using Shurley 1 when we officially get to 1st grade, but I'm wondering... is FLL 1/2 is gentle enough to use for K5? Has anyone used this with their K'er and what do you think? Thank you, :001_smile: Melissa
  13. I'm interested in these materials and am hoping to find someone who could tell me what they think of them. Thank you, :001_smile: Melissa
  14. Has anyone used Developing the Early Learner series by Simone Bibeau... or ReadyWriter by Edwin C. Myers and Nellie M. Myers... as recommended by Elizabeth FitzGerald in the Cursive First TM (bottom of TM-14)? Maybe I'll try posting this question on the SpelltoWriteandRead Yahoo Group as well. Melissa
  15. No kidding... thanks for sharing! I'm sure I'll be utilizing your plans for Animals Around the World towards the end of our year... thanks again for that too! BTW... you're the one who introduced/gave me the idea for using the ScienceWorks series. We are finishing up with My Body next week and then we'll begin our study of The Earth the following week. We love it! Thank you, thank you, thank you! :001_smile: Melissa
  16. Although I believe we are in the season of the end times, I post this not to put anyone in a panic, but I believe that these need to be shared... as if many of us didn't already know this stuff, Right?! United Nations Agenda 21 - Sustainable Development... and many of the other links that pertain to it... Agenda 21 - The Powers that Be! The New World Order - Global Enslavement Agenda ...etc. Things that make you go... Hmmm. May God Guide and Bless You, Melissa
  17. We're there! (see sig. line below) :001_smile: Melissa
  18. You may already know about this, but here is the link to GTG Yahoo! Group We plan on doing GtG next year for K5. Melissa
  19. We are using ScienceWorks: My Body by Evan-Moore w/Science Picture Cards, The Human Body Evan-Moore also has All About My Body in their Early Childhood Thematic Series Have Fun! Melissa
  20. Please allow me to indulge my curiousity as I'd like to know what you choose/chose for a mastery math program/supplement and why? Many thanks! Melissa
  21. Our K4 weekly report is up... no pics yet, but I'll add a couple later this afternoon. Melissa
  22. I may not be the best person to respond to your thread as I haven't used any other materials for phonics other than the SWR materials I've purchased. I've chosen SWR for our Lang. Arts program and I think it has great phonics game ideas. We are in our 4th week of K4, wherein we cover phonics everyday (M-TH) and then do a game with them (more details on my blog - see signature line below). Examples of Phonics Games we do: - How sounds are made (ds and I watched ourselves in the mirror to see the shape of our mouth as we say the phonograms) - Guess/Glue the Word (2 examples: I say /back/ and /yard/, then ds says backyard ; I say or write /c/ /l/ /o/ /ck/, then ds says clock, etc.) - Unglue the Word (dc tries to say each sound of the word and I guess the word) - Count the Syllables (clap 1, 2, 3, and 4 syllables words) Also, I have the SWR Phonogram Fun Packet, but I haven't used it yet... that may be another fun game I'll have to incorporate in to our lessons soon. Hmm... I guess I have started using the A Beka Phonics Reader Set to get ideas for Guess/Glue the Word and Unglue the Word. :001_smile: Melissa
  23. We're using Saxon Math K right now and we start each math lesson with the Meeting Book. If you're not familiar with the materials, the Meeting Book for level K is used for daily calendar exercises... learning days of the week, months, dates, year, etc. My little man looks forward to the meeting book every day and usually pulls it off the shelf to get it ready for me. BTW, you could purchase the Meeting Book separately to use for the calendar exercises. Melissa
