    Jury duty

I'm surprised you had to attend with a nursing newborn. I got out of it for homeschooling and being the main caregiver for my special needs son. They took me off the rolls completely in that county.
  2. Ok, that's good to know about the coupons. I was looking at the app and found Warehouse deals, and they listed coupons that had to be swiped to clip them, but I guess I don't need to bother doing that. I'll be looking for the lemon cupcakes! I love all things lemon!
  3. I was not impressed with their app or the website. It took me forever to figure out where to clip coupons! That is one area where BJ's is better. Also, I guess they don't do curbside pickup?
  4. When we were there the gas was $2.99/gal for regular, our local stations were in the $3.18 range. It's not close enough to fill up regularly there, but I will make sure our tank is low when we do go.
  5. Tires are on our list for next month, good to know!
  6. That's great to know about the olive oil! I'm really picky with my soy milk so I was afraid to try theirs. Some brands seem to have a slight (or not so slight) sharpness to them, like Silk brand. I usually buy Westsoy unsweetened organic, and so far it seems to be the only brand I like. I guess I could donate them if I don't like them. It's been hard to find the Westsoy lately and it's been expensive! I will check out the clothes on our next trip. The first trip was so overwhelming!!
  7. I'm taking notes for our next trip! And I feel like I'm your cheese twin!😁
  8. I noticed the large selection of the Asian products and was wondering if all stores had that. We do have a large Asian population nearby so I wasn't sure. We will definitely be spending some money in that aisle!
  9. I took the plunge and joined even though the store is a bit overwhelming for me. (What was I thinking doing Costco and BJ's in one day?!?!) I was pleasantly surprised at some of the prices compared to BJ's. What Kirkland products can anyone recommend? I was looking at the dishwasher tabs and laundry tabs, but would love any and all recommendations regardless of brand.
  10. You reminded me of the house I lived in growing up, and the leprechaun that used to live in the basement, according to my father. I was terrified of that damn leprechaun! But it kept us from finding our Christmas and birthday presents! I don't think I had the courage to go down there until I was 12 or so lol. I think you handled it just fine.
  11. So the wound goes from the outside skin in to her actual mouth? I can't imagine that not being infected. If it doesn't go through into the mouth, then perhaps they could try negative pressure wound therapy? My father-in-law had that for his foot.
  12. I've never had furniture companies take away old furniture, only appliance companies. If it's in bad shape we disassemble it and put it out a bit at a time. We keep it behind our bushes and put some out every trash day. Sometimes they will take the rest from behind the bushes for us, which is why we take very good care of them at Christmas time.🙂
  13. I will only buy this brand: https://www.amazon.com/Thermophore-Liberty-Moist-Therapy-Large/dp/B08P2CXGLT/ref=sr_1_8?crid=217XSLSATIT7M&keywords=thermophore+moist+heating+pad+14x27&qid=1679509938&sprefix=thermaphor%2Caps%2C164&sr=8-8&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.006c50ae-5d4c-4777-9bc0-4513d670b6bc I had one that lasted for 20 years. They have the one that is shown, or one that you have to hold the button down to get heat. I have both, but I have fallen asleep holding the button down on the one that you have to hold down and it gets hot!!! Like I jumped awake from the heat and probably would have had a burn if I didn't. But the quality is really good.
  14. We've cut way back on Starbucks because everything else has gone up so much. We barely eat out, don't buy cold cuts anymore, and buy meats only on sale. Ds would only drink diet coke in cans but now it's whatever one is on sale, so he has had to become used to Pepsi. I'm constantly monitoring our subscribe and save order. One month one of the coffees we order jumped from $42/box to $56! I used to see price alerts for that but I haven't received any lately. I've cut back on my coffee (I prefer illy) and have switched brands for various items. We buy more store brands and have been doing a lot of Aldi shopping, especially for cookies which we must have in the house for the seniors lol. We also joined Costco and were pleasantly surprised by some of the prices, especially the organic frozen fruit for me and Breathe Right strips, which dh can't live without! Oh, and butter! We never buy steak anymore, but will splurge on expensive meats for holidays. For Easter we will spend a fortune on American boneless leg of lamb. We make a lot of homemade bread, but I have to buy certain breads for our neighbor and mil. She wants low cal and he needs something he can chew well without teeth, so it's usually the Pepperidge Farm 45 calorie at over $5 a loaf. UGH! Occasionally Aldi has their own 45 cal bread but it's hard to find. They've had my son's favorite bread (647 Italian) for a lot cheaper than the supermarket. It's hard getting everyone's particular food requirements! Ds is on WW, I eat mostly WFPB, mil is picky, dh likes his sweets, neighbor needs easy to chew, there will be mutiny without cookies, etc... 😩
  15. I don't follow a rigid schedule time-wise, but I am very meticulous about recording what I need to do, what I have done, any relevant information I need to keep track of, etc. I use a modified bullet-journal and other themed notebooks to keep track of data that needs keeping track of. My husband bought me a Remarkable 2, and it's now acting as my brain lol. I have my modified bullet journal in there and different notebooks to keep track of things like bills, work notes, etc. If something is not written down immediately I forget it! Dh, ds and I use Slack for work, so if dh sends me something that I need to take care of I immediately put it in my bullet journal and I also set a reminder in Slack. If it's really important I may set a reminder on my apple watch or with Alexa on my Echo Show. I do have a general flow to my day - early am is personal stuff and reflecting on the coming day, then I move on to company 1 work followed by company 2 work, getting dinner ready and eat, be lazy for a while, check if anything needs to be taken care of before the day ends, do some house stuff, and bed. I eat breakfast and lunch when I'm hungry and usually at my desk. I don't have ADHD but suffer from severe MS-related cog fog. The Remarkable 2 and bullet journals have been a total game changer for me.
  16. I just started taking Omeprazole a few weeks ago, and my mil's been taking it for years. I'll have to investigate this. Thanks for the info and link!
  17. I'm the only one who has witnessed these events and changes. I wish others would see it! I'd like to say I see a gait change also, which worries me. Her mother had Parkinson's. But she also has back and hip issues.
  18. I'd like to say yes, in the evening. I have witnessed sundowning with her and our neighbor, both when they were in rehab or in the hospital. It was quite a bit more noticeable then. Dh hasn't noticed it at all, but he doesn't pick up on many things, lol. He wasn't too concerned until this last episode, thinking the smaller episodes were due to stress.
  19. She does have an advantage plan, I'll have to check her coverage, thanks!
  20. That thought did cross my mind. I've seen TIAs in other people which were a lot more obvious, but I'm no neurologist. I really would like for her to be seen by her neurologist. It's been quite a while.
  21. She's been completely fine since the incident. And the previous less concerning incidents were the same - isolated and completely fine after. She realizes that the incidents happened and looks obviously upset after she realizes.
  22. I had a similar situation with our elderly neighbor. And she was looking at me in total disbelief that he couldn't answer a simple question, mouth just about hanging open, which I thought was extremely rude and disrespectful. I explained it in a better way, and he answered immediately. I don't think very much of these tests!
  23. Her current doctor's specialty is gerontologist. We kind of forced the switch to this doctor after her big fall. She was so overmedicated that the gerontologist at the hospital was in absolute shock. And not just regarding pain killers and They drastically cut her meds, which was an unbelievable improvement in her day to day life. We never realized how bad it was until we took over her care. We expect her doctor to be very proactive.
  24. She initially wouldn't wear them because she doesn't want people to know she's wearing them. Now that they are smaller she seems more interested, and when I spoke to her last night she was very open to the idea, so that's a big change in her attitude!
  25. Thanks everyone. I had her do one of the home tests for UTIs yesterday. I keep them on hand for myself and have found them to be pretty accurate. It came out clear, but we could double check at an urgent care tomorrow or do a home visit through the local hospital. She sees her regular doctor next week. I think I will give the office a call and let them know what's going on. She hasn't seen a neurologist since her major fall, so a visit there is probably in order. I also found a program in our state that will reimburse $500 per hearing aid, so I will put in an application on Monday. From what I'm seeing Medicare won't cover any of it. She has a property tax rebate coming that she could use to cover some of the cost and we could probably manage to contribute $500 if needed. I'm sure her brother will contribute as well.
