Just wanted to step and let people who haven't already read about it a lot that there are steps to implementing the program, if you are planning to implement it. They are on the website in a download. You start with the grammar, once that is finished you start the grammar practice that will continue throughout the rest of the year. Then you begin adding in other books. There is a step process so you don't do all the books all the time nor do you need all the books right at once as far as purchasing. HTH. :)

A Fight with my Doctor. Now what?
melmichigan replied to Jean in Newcastle's topic in General Education Discussion Board
How high was referring to your blood test. 100mg of a B complex doesn't say how much of the idividual components, that is what makes a difference. Many B vitamins are hard on your liver and will raise certain points of your function tests and need monitoring. It could be as simple as dosing needs adjusting and the blood work rechecked in another month. However, that should be explained, if you are taking that much of it, hard to say with the info. and your blood retested. You should never be "blown off" by a medical professional and I hope you are searching for another doctor and have called you regualr MD with the results so that they can follow up in the mean time. Sorry things got busy here and I lost track of my posts. -
Is this a change? All the threads have mentioned that DC don't have to have their math facts memorized before 2A or 2B, I can't remember which. I was reading through the HIG for lessons in 1A, Unit 6, Chapter 2 today and it states students should have addition and subtraction facts through 10 memorized before beginning this unit. We finished off all the rest of the book (1A), and just have this unit left before moving to 1B in order to spend more time on subtraction facts. Any thoughts from those who have used this edition with their DC?

Exactly! I was trying to find the original copyrights, instead stumbled upon his classes, in all my time spent on CTY, I didn't realize he taught classes for them with his books.

Prayer Request for MIL
melmichigan replied to Brigitte's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Adding your family to our list... -
I just wanted to say thank you to any and all who kept my DH's grandmother in their thought and prayers. They had given her a 50/50 chance to make it through the night last night. My MIL, who is a nurse, says it could only have been the power of prayer. She is alert and talking and thankfully remembers nothing of the last three days. She is still in ICU but is doing 100% better.

I emailed anyone who asked about how I got the prices. The teaching company told me the way for me to share, (legally) was to forward the email, which I will gladly do. Many of the prices are the same as they are with the code already mentioned, others are not. The sale mentioned was specific to CD's but while looking I realized it influences prices on some other programs DVD's as well. ;) It runs until midnight on Sunday. Glad it worked Jeri!

I'm not real sure about it being the "flavor of the month" here. It has been around and discussed on the Davidson Forum for some time, people there still love it, and more and more GT schools are adopting it. I have spoken to other GT parents who have used it, for more than six months and they still love it. I think that it is just becoming more widely recognized, and people realize that it works for "every day" kids too. ;) It is just a completely different approach that works great for some kids, but certainly not everyone. My DD will be using it in a cyber class that has been using it for a while and are very happy with it.

Grandmother has H1N1 and is in ICU
melmichigan replied to melmichigan's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I mentioned this to my MIL. The hospital had said that there was no IV med to give her and I hadn't heard of this yet. The latest update is that her fever is down but when we last heard she isn't yet responsive. We are all hoping this is a turn in the right direction and she will improve from here. Thank you. -

Grandmother has H1N1 and is in ICU
melmichigan replied to melmichigan's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Thank you for the continued prayers for her and for the family. Sadly things are getting worse. They cannot get an NG tube down so they cannot give her any Tamiflu. She is packed in ice but her temp is still 103. -
Could you please keep my husbands grandmother, my FIL, and the family in your prayers? I am unsure how bad things are. She has gone down hill quickly after being hospitalized after collapsing at home some time yesterday, she had been fine the day before, just not hungry. My SIL found her on the floor when she wouldn't answer the phone last night. She has confirmed H1N1 and they think she may have had a mild stroke in the midst of everything.

A Fight with my Doctor. Now what?

Just a curiosity... Do you take high levels of Vitamin B supplements? Also to consider, how high is abnormally high in view of any supplements you are taking, one or two points above normal that is something to watch and monitor or significantly above normal as in something that needs to be addressed further? Regardless, I wouldn't hesitate to change doctors if you aren't getting satisfying answers to your questions. :) Personal life shouldn't impact professional, and all that too. -
Thank you ladies, my DD10 is doing middle school material but after watching your thread I called and got a catalog. I resisted ordering with Christmas coming. Then, I got an email today for the newest sale. I couldn't resist and bought the following High school World History $39.95 High school Early American History 39.95 and for me Lost Chrisitanities $34.95 Black Holes Explained $19.95 Dark Matter, Dark Energy $34.95 all DVD's, it was really hard but I resisted buying the audio CD's on many others since they are doing a clearance of audio CD's. Thank You!

DH and I are having a difference of opinion--HELP please
melmichigan replied to tabmtbc's topic in Accelerated Learner Board
Would it be any help to remember that most prealgebra programs contain a large amount of review, so it won't be the only time she sees the material? I also second any problem solving type activities you could add.
