  1. Men.  I got my hair colored on Monday for the first time ever.  I even mentioned to my dh that I had been there. He still hasn't noticed. :D  My kids all have, well maybe my oldest son has not. He hasn't said anything.

  2. My dd (college) wasn't going to audition for the school's acapella group.  She's in her 3rd year, and been rejected twice before, so she didn't want to try again.  I talked her into it, and she got in!  I know it's a big boost to her, and even if she could on;y participate this year (because of student teaching next year), she's has the chance to be a part of her's school's long tradition.

  3. Last week we listened to Eoin Colfer's book, The Supernaturalist.  We all loved his Artemis Fowl series, but this book was not as good.  The kids thought it was fun. It held their attention during the 9 hour van ride.  But my dh and I were not as impressed.  The writing was good, but everything else felt over done.  Not his best, but at least the kids enjoyed it.

I started reading Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage.  Loving it.  It's classic Murakami; all of his elements are there.  I already want to reread it and I'm just halfway through.  I wish I had a copy of that Litsz piece, but YouTube has been helping out with that. :)  Hope you enjoy the book, Stacia!

I'm on part 4 of A Signature of All Things.  I'm enjoying listening to it.  Definitely not my normal type of book, but it has been good company on my runs. Though when you get to a part that makes you tear up it can be hard to run. I was trying to do speedwork when Alma was telling Prudence about their father's will (won't say more, don't want to spoil it for anyone).

  4. "And, yes, Moffatt needs to get over his creepy fixation on 'the special girl' or 'the little girl that meets the doctor and grows up in love with him".  Alright, alright, we get it. You read The Time Traveler's Wife and it had a big impact on you. I liked it very much as well. But stop trying to stuff that character into all your women.  It gets boring."

  5. Clara is OK, but she ranks behind Martha in my book. I'd throw my vote in the ring for Captain Jack to return. I miss Rory (but not Amy). I hated Donna at first and thought she was obnoxious, but she grew to become my favorite companion.

Clara did nothing for me.  Martha was good, but I think she would have been better if she didn't do the Rose thing with the crush on the Doctor.  Loved, loved, loved Rory.  Amy was also pretty good; better than Martha.  Loved Donna.  Catherine Tate is a great actress. Rose was also good.  The actress player her well, giving her more depth than I would have expected.  She grew on me.  Stormageddon would be fun as the new one.

  6. Glad you found some at Land's End.  We bought from Levi's when my son was that size.  Online you can get 28/32, and even 28/34, which is what he needed last year.  Now he needs 29/36.  If your son gets tall (my 14 year old is 6'2") American Eagle was the only option.  Even then I had to settle for 30/36, but a belt works.

  7. First,  :grouphug:

But then I have a recent story to share.  I went for a mammogram recently too.  It was also a sort of spur of the moment decision.  I then got a call saying it was abnormal. The call/letter (hospital does both) came late because my provider didn't check it closely.  Not her fault; thought my dh checked it (he's the doc, she's the PA).  Anyway, they said it showed a "cluster", most likely a calcium deposit build up (???) My dh tells me that it competely normal, so no big deal.  We make the follow up appointment, which was 2 weeks later.  I had no concerns at all.  I believed my dh when he said it was normal.  But then on the day of the appointment my dh asks if I need him to come with me for support (???? that kind of made me say, what??) Then when I get there the tech, and later the radiologist bend over backwards to let me know that I won't be leaving without having an answer.  By then I was starting to freak out a little.  I was also getting miffed at my dh who said it was nothing.

But the radiologist came back and said, yes it appears to be normal. It's more of a case that now that they can see everything so well (thanks to digital pictures) they can see more and have to double check.  It most likely is normal, but I will be getting mammagrams more fequently now.

Anyway, all this is to share that it probably is nothing.  They can see much greater detail than they could before, which means more false alarms.  It will most likely be fine.  And the detail in my story was for this: if I would have known that it could be serious I would have spent 2 weeks freaking out., instead I didn't think about it twice. Ignorance can be bliss.

:grouphug:  again.  You will probably be fine, but waiting for the unknown is difficult.

  8. It's been a busy week, but I've tried to keep up with my exercising.  I ran 4.25 miles on Thursday.  It was a 2x1 mile repeat, plus WU and cool down.  Friday I ran 4.25 again, but that time I did a speed workout, running fast for a short time, then recovery. I also did a 90 minute Yin practice in the evening.  It felt good.  Today I ran 3 miles and then did some kettlebell.

  9. Thursday: let's see- was in the hospital for most of the last 36 hours with 18 yo dd after her long boarding accident. She fractured her jaw in 3 places along with other injuries.

Came home and went on a loooooong walk with my husband while 20 yo looked after her sister. Walking and talking with dh is God's free therapy.

How terrible!  I hope she recovers quickly.

  10. We been on vacation visiting family, but i been able to get some exercise done. Sunday we went to the beach. I believe I walked about 5 miles in total. Monday morning i ran 3.5 miles. Today thunder and lightning ruined my run, so it was kettlebell and yoga. Tomorrow we drive home, so no chance to run, but probably some yin tomorrow night.

  11. I'll be 53 when my youngest graduates high school. I believe I will spend the first year sleeping and deep cleaning my home.:D I had thought about working again, but I don't know. I have no desire to go back to school, nor could I imagine that it would be financially beneficial at that age. But the future is hard to tell. I also imagine, that by then I could have grandchildren, which could keep me occupied.

  12. Nice! We didn't get any peaches this year. One of the trees is dying, so they couldn't cross pollinate. But last year we had a bumper crop. I'm out of peach jam, which makes me a little sad, but at the same time i don't have the time to do that work.

    Enjoy your peaches!

  13. I ran 3 miles on Tuesday, and did kettlebell . Wednesday we drove all day (on vacation visiting family). Today i ran 3 miles and did kettlebell. I've also been dealing with some stomach bug, which made running difficult today, but i think I'm on the mend.
