Sat paper registration

I must be the only person who can't figure this out. 😳

So I registered through CTY. They assigned a student number to my kid and told me to register for sat.

I go to sat site and apparently I need a paper registration which is provided by a counselor. What counselor? We aren't in school. What do I do now?

We got ours from a high school counselor at DD's cover school. You may want to try calling a local high school. She had to request it-most kids register online.

I can't request it from college board? It has to be from school?

Also, it says kids under 13 require no photo ID. We have a passport, but he is really young in that picture (not that recognizable). It says I could use some sort of ID from CTY, but I can't figure out what that is or how to obtain it. of course all of that assumes I can get my hands on the paper SAT registration. 😳

Is your son in 7th grade? Thought you register for SAT through CTY's website and not CollegeBoard?

"It is open to Talent Search students in grades 7-8. The SAT is a good choice for students who seek early exposure to the SAT and want to potentially qualify for CTY’s Study of Exceptional Talent, which provides resources and support to exceptionally bright students. Registering for the SAT through MyCTY ensures that scores are reported by College Board directly to CTY.

Log in to MyCTY to register to test"

CTD NUMATS register 6th-8th graders for SAT through NUMATS. They liase with CollegeBoard so you pay NUMATS instead.

I get my mail in registration forms from CollegeBoard direct. They had mailed me 6 sets in 14 months so far promptly via UPS. I'm probably "regular requestor of mail in registration forms" status with them.

My kids used their passports for SAT and ACT and it hasn't been an issue.

Yes, 7th. I log in but I can't figure out how to register through their site. Apparently I registered for talent search. Does that mean they are going to send me the paper application? I am so confused.

I just log in to my DS11's account. Could not find a way to register for SAT or ACT. You can call them up on Tuesday or email them now.

I could register either of my kids for SAT online through their CTD NUMATS account. I just need to click through, select date and test site and pay. It's more expensive which is why we did the mail in registrations.

I registered with CTY a couple of weeks ago, and CTY even sent an email reminding me to register for a test, but there was no follow up on test date or anything. So I called CB for a paper registration. If it doesn't arrive by the end of next week, I'm going to email CB per Arcadia's advice. Anyway, just wanted to say I was confused why CTY sent an email but never followed through with more information, and I spent $49 to become a member.

We are in your situation. I am wondering why I paid my fee at this point. I am going to call them on Tuesday to see what we need to do. The email just got me to the page that asks me what test I prefer (I said SAT), but that's where the trail ends. No link for actual registration).

Exactly! I haven't had the time to call yet. The reason why I registered was that CB was being difficult over the late spring and entire summer about changing their policy with sending paper registrations and requiring that I go into a local high school, which I did but didn't get one because all hs kids are 14-18, duh, and can register online. Then I went to the middle school to get one and got a snide remark that "don't you know middle school kids don't take the SAT?" Anyway I pm'd Arcadia in a panic and she told me to try calling again because she was able to get one sent out.

I won't even ask our middle school. They will try commit me to the asylum for attempting to put my 12 year old through SAT. And I live in a small town where people know people. 😂

I also went the CTY route for the same simplicity or so I thought.

What I can't understand is why CB can't make the PDF of the application available for us to print. It would make too much sense for them maybe. 😤

The talent search fee is only if your child wants to participate in the award ceremonies. Else you can just do the mail in registration and put the talent search codes under the score reports section. The talent searches would get your kid's scores and they will let your kid take the courses they are eligible for. They sent me an email recently about the change of date for award ceremony so maybe the admin staff are busy.

It's a scantron answer sheet. Had a not so fun time coloring bubbles x 2 kids for the June 2017 date. Since my kids have to color scantrons for their exams, I decided I'll color the mail in registration forms for them.

And now I feel really dumb for paying a fee. I should have asked you first.

I created an account & am coming out of lurkdom to reply because I *just* went through this, including the CTY test registration confusion.  My ds is 12.

After calling the counselor at our zoned public high school, all of the local libraries, and the folks at CTY  with no success, I ultimately just called College Board and asked for them to mail one.  They sent me a paper registration via UPS and I had it in 2 days.  Then when we registered we entered CTY's test code so that they will get the results sent to them for talent search.

Hope this helps.  Back to lurking.

CTY actually gets the scores the day before it is released so I have gotten my kids results the evening (dinner time) before through their CTY accounts :)

Duke TIP would accept a photo of the score report via email. That's what I did for both my kids. I entered CTD NUMATS code under the free score reports so that it gets send to them too.

My husband paid the talent search fee after the scores because he likes our kids to have practice with award ceremonies

Public school kids have lots of practice with going up on stage and getting an award (student of the month and other monthly awards) and he is afraid our kids would look unpolished.

We did enjoy the grand ceremony at JHU since we went to Niagara Falls and downtown Toronto for a vacation after that.

SET is free and your child gets an invite with qualifying scores on the SAT when CTY get the scores.

Only we would never go to such at event. 😂 I want my money back. 😂

Does anybody know the country code for USA? I can't figure out if we need to put that or if its only for international locations.

Only for international.

It is stated on 10b COUNTRY CODE (REQUIRED for International Students)

For high school code you can use 000003 (not in high school) or 970000 (Home School Clearinghouse (Internal)). We have used both and it doesn't matter since the child's birthdate is above the high school name on the score reports. Very obvious how old they were on test date which is printed above the birthdate.

One more dumb question. :)

So one score goes to CTY and that's the only thing that's indicated in 22a. Do we automatically get a score at home or do I need to do something to make sure we get a copy?

Do we automatically get a score at home or do I need to do something to make sure we get a copy?

For under 13, the test candidate automatically gets a score report mailed to his/her residential address. For 13 and older, the test candidate creates his/her account and prints his/her score reports.

My DS12's latest score report from CollegeBoard has his sat subject tests scores as well as his SAT scores to-date. He only took SAT once. My DS11's latest score report has his June 2017 SAT score as well as the November 2016 SAT scores. The score reports are cumulative.

Edited for grammar.
