Jean in Newcastle
Happy Monday everyone! Today is the first day of mid winter break for us and you know what that means - roll up your sleeves and let's get some serious work done! (You can pray for my poor children for having a mother like me.) What I want to accomplish: Clean kitchen, of course. I can't function without a clean kitchen sometime during the day. Tons of laundry. We're about ready to have to do the sniff test in order to find clothes to wear. Deeper cleaning than usual. Put away things from those trouble spots. Bank Get ds to make it so that I can do a kickboxing routine at the Y tonight. We will do our usual vacation round - robin cleaning. 20 minute intervals in a place before we rotate. One lucky person gets to choose the music. I predict lots of Santana on my musical shift, lots of Minecraft parodies and Maroon 5 on dd11's and lots of Pink Floyd on ds15's. Jean in Newcastle
Noonish check in: Dd went first musically with her Minecraft parodies. She reorganized the hall pantry and the linen closet. I got dibs next on music and went with Santana today as planned. Some days are just Santana days. I did my normal kitchen cleaning and then cleaned the oven and reorganized and cleaned the supplement shelves (and yes, that is plural). Ds gave us a musical tour of the Wallflowers, David Bowie, Pink Floyd (I called that one) and the Beattles. He got rid of hot spots in the living room and did general tidying. After an hour my minions mutinied on me. I'm letting us all have a break, then lunch, after which I crack the whip again! Bwahahahahaha! Jean in Newcastle
How's it going? After lunch, I had to go to the bank. I dropped dd off at the library. Ds' job was to work on fixing the laundry room cabinets. I decided after the bank to go to the Asian grocery store that I've wanted to go to for at least a month but haven't had time to go to since it is a 20 min. drive. Then I decided that since I was in the area of the special gas station where I'm eligible to get $1 off a gallon, that I would do that too. I got lost a bit but a phone call to dd11 for directions got me there all right. Score!
Jean in Newcastle
In honor of being on vacation I took a nap! And then I made the most awesome dinner. And it was easy too.
Jean in Newcastle
Okay, spill it! What was the dinner? My favorite brown rice (easy peasy in the rice cooker), pre-marinated kalbi (korean) baked boneless chicken thighs (easy-peasy in the oven) and baby bok choy in garlic sauce.
