New product. Pepsi Natural...for those who avoid HFCS.

Recommended Posts

We tried a new product this week and it is really good so I thought I would share here.

Pepsi had a new 'natural' cola they have released in some areas.

The ingredients are:

Sparkling water

sugar

natural apple extract (color)

caramel color

citric acid

caffeine

acacia gum

tartaric acid

lactic acid

natural flavor

kola nut extract

I am a Coke dinker, dh is a Pepsi drinker. I buy the Coke made in Mexico to avoid the HFCS and I like the glass bottles. But I think I like the taste of the Pepsi Natural better.....shhhhh don't tell dh!

P.S. I bought a case of the Pepsi at Costco.

I've been trying forever to get my hubby to give up soda (without actually telling him to do it). Last summer his doctor pulled him off all caffeine, and then I showed him all the stuff about how bad HFCS is and so I finally got him to quit soda. He's still trying to find something to drink on a regular basis (because he refuses to drink water even though I tell him he will learn to like it if he just quits drinking sugar for a couple of weeks). He's found out the caffeine wasn't causing his problems so if he hears he can have his beloved Pepsi without the HFCS, he's gonna want to start drinking that all the time again. Maybe we will get lucky and we won't be in the release area :001_smile:. But it is good to know that some of the big companies are at least trying to offer some better products.

It does taste like Pepsi, but softer....I don't know how to explain it.

I am very picky about my cola so I understand the concern. We literally buy Coke for me, and Pepsi for dh. It does taste like the carmel flavor of Pepsi, but not as super sweet. Still sweet, still Pepsi's flavor, but more like the amount of sweetness level of Coke with the bubble quantity of Pepsi.

I just read this and I'm excited! I drink Jones cola right now, and that's made with real sugar too, but I'm curious to see the taste and the price of the new pepsi. I also love that snapple has been making tea with sugar instead of hfcs as well. I'm very excited by the trend of making sugar 'cool' again. I just hope people don't take it as a license to be able eat/drink more 'natural' products just because it is sugar vs. HFCS.

I will admit though that I love indulging in the occational soda, and I'm excited to see where this movement goes.

Ohhh a case at Costco?? I"ll check this out. Hubby & I saw it at the grocery store last night but it was expensive! It was $4.99 for a 4 pack.

Fascinating. Now I'm really disliking the fact that we don't have Costco around here. I am a Pepsi person (DH is a Coke person), but I'd given up my beloved drink because my son kept asking for it, and I don't give him HFCS even though I do dope him up on caffeine sometimes. I'm going to be watching for this...
