Gamom3
movie release party? dd(12) wants to go to a movie release party(Twilight) with a friend and friends mom tonight would you let yours go?
Ria
If you are comfortable with the movie and know the mom, why not? Ria
AmyP
I'm letting my 14 yo go, but she's going with my niece, who's in her mid 20s. It works out well for us, dd sees my niece as cooler than mom and I see her as safer than going with friends only. Amy
Country Mouse
Yes, that sounds like a fun experience.
sassenach
I wouldn't. I don't think Twilight is ok for my almost 12yo. However, if you are ok with her seeing the movie and getting caught up in it all, more power to you. I say this as someone who has read the whole series and quite enjoyed it. LibraryLover
If the situation is as you describe, it seems perfectly appropriate to me and I would be totally fine with it for that age.
phathui5
Yup.
fivetails
For that particular movie, no - but that's just because I don't feel that it's appropriate for *our* dd12. :) If the movie was one that I was okay with her watching, and we knew & trusted the family having the party, then yes. :)
JFSinIL
I saw it with my 15-yr-old in the theater ...would not let a 12-yr-old attend, if only due to the very violent scene at the ballet stdio...
Colleen
In general, I avoid bandwagons. To that end, I wouldn't be thrilled about the idea of my child attending a movie release party. (Of course, I've taken my children to the movies a grand total of one time ~ and even then, it was an unconventional film in an unconventional theatre.) Having said that, if I was okay with the movie, and the other family, I might go in for it. But I'm not pro-Twilight, so that'd close the case for me. LibraryLover
If it helps: my 16 yr old read the books and was totally & 100% horrified by the movie hack job. She is currently rejecting anything pop Twilight.
Tree House Academy
I LOVE Twilight - read the whole series cover to cover in 3 days. That said, I would NEVER let my teenage girl read the series. Never. See the movie...maybe.
