T Baer
Action, adventure and with a Christian Worldview. Something that promotes good character qualities.
Michelle in MO
This series may not necessarily be from an overtly Christian view, but nevertheless there are some good Christian themes and excellent character portrayed in the Horatio Hornblower movies, starring Ioan Gruffudd as Horatio Hornblower. He displays exemplary character and judgment in many adventures on the high seas during the time of the Napoleonic Wars (I think). There was one "nudie" scene in which Horatio is being hosed down on deck in the buff; we just averted our eyes (we've a passle of girls at our house, except for dh). Otherwise, I can't think of anything, off the top of my head, that I found offensive. That scene didn't offend me; it just seemed rather unnecessary. It's been a few years since I've seen the series, and I may have forgotten some things. Nevertheless, one of my all-time favorite DVD series---ever! Vida Winter
I don't know how old they are but The Ultimate Gift was very moving, probably better for kids that are tween-teen at least.
Heather in Neverland
Obviously...both Narnias. My ds also loved the newest "Pilgrim's Progress".
Chelle in MO
There's a new film out on DVD called "Pendragon--Sword of His Father". I haven't seen it yet, but I'm considering it for my boys. It's about Barbarians invading Britain. You can check it out at: www.pendragonmovie.com. Chelle
Hoggirl
I do understand wanting a Christian worldview, but my ds loved this. The Legend of Johnny Lingo.
