Pamela H in Texas
As many of you are aware, my daughter's kidneys went haywire in 2007. It affected her heart, liver, etc also. However, she went into remission easily enough that fall and has been since. She's had to test her urine for protein periodically. She's down to monthly now. However, she started holding a LOT of water and having pitting edema so checked it last night and this this morning (I think is what she said). The strip said negative this morning, but she's really puffed up. She is worried and wondering if we should contact the nephrologist. I think we could check the strip again next time she uses the restroom, at least. However, if it really is negative, I don't know what I'd tell a doctor. What would you do? Ria
Call the doctor. With your dd's history, anything out of the ordinary should be relayed to the doc. Good luck...I hope it's nothing. Ria
PiCO
What would you do? Call the Dr ASAP. There's obviously some kind of problem, and with your dd's history why wait until it gets worse? Heck, I would call the Dr if my daughter puffed up like that, with no history.
LizzyBee
I agree with Ria and PiCO - call the dr asap.
Chris in VA
yep, call. You are not "bothering" them, that's what they are there for--don't risk it.
Pamela H in Texas
The nephrologist's nurse said she'd talk to the doc and call us back, but her main thought was to take her to the pediatrician and if any findings there were significant to her history, report those back to them. But without protein in the urine, facial puffiness, etc she isn't convinced it's related. Thanks for y'all's support
Pamela H in Texas
Nurse called back. Doc says take her to pediatrician also. Says to have them do a urine test just to be sure.
