Liz CA
If a turkey has been sitting on several eggs for about 3-4 days, should I dare to still use them? The eggs are from chickens and they could be fertilized as we have one rooster. Ds just discovered today that the turkey Ethel is hoarding eggs again...she is the broodiest bird I have ever seen! cornerstonemom
They are probably bloody inside. I would either let them hatch or pitch them.
Amber in AUS
I don't keep chickens and certainly not an expert, but i wouldn't use them. It is possible for the Turkey to hatch them, my friend swaps eggs between her layers and broody ones all the time and they always hatch out fine. SonshineLearner
I would crack 'em into a bigger bowl,,,and crack one egg into another bowl...and keep adding to the big bowl...unless there's a problem...and use them. You can keep eggs out for way over a week, as long as the film isn't washed off, right? And, if you have a dog..and don't want to eat them...I'd either feed them raw, or if you have a problem with that...kinda soft scramble...and feed them to the dog... kiana
Break them into a small bowl one at a time -- if they look fine, they're fine to use. If they look gross, pitch them. We always followed this procedure when we had hens/roosters running together. We did find occasional partially developed eggs.
Audrey
We did find occasional partially developed eggs. We call those the "crunchies."
Liz CA
We call those the "crunchies." LOL! That is what I decided to do - break them into a separate bowl before adding them to anything. I have been using a few and every time I crack one, I expect a pair of eyes to stare at me!
dirty ethel rackham
When I read the title, I was expecting a "which came first" discussion! Wrong thread.
