Is anyone watching the Waukesha Parade massacre trial?

The defendant is acting as his own attorney.

He starts nearly every question of witnesses with, “Is it fair to say…”

And any time the prosecution’s objection is sustained, he asks, “grounds? Grounds?” Before the judge gets the word “sustained” out of her mouth.

He also seems to be a sovereign citizen which adds interest to his questioning.

I assume the strategy is being declared incompetent to stand trial.

I haven’t followed enough to know whether or not that might be valid.

The trial has already started…he’s already been declared competent to stand trial.

That would require an ability to generate *strategy*.  From what little I've read about him; he doesn't sound that bright.

and as the saying goes - those who represent themselves have a fool for a lawyer.

Just lock him up and throw away the key already.

I don’t know enough, but I wonder if his behavior would be enough for an appeal.

An appeal won't gain him much.  The judge has handled his pro se status correctly thus far and the grounds for appeal will be limited. His best outcome of an appeal would be a new trial with an attorney representing him, which would still end with a conviction.  He doesn't have any solid standing for an incompetency defense.
