dirty ethel rackham
Any bug lovers in your house? Want to do some real science and contribute to the Cicada Mapping project? Live in an area where Brood X is expected to emerge? Then download the Cicada Safari app and go looking! My son is a PhD student at University of Connecticut doing research on periodical cicadas and he told me about this mapping project that his department participates in. For more information on the Cicada Mapping Project (and background info on the Brood X emergence), go to the UConn website. https://cicadas.uconn.edu/2021_brood_x/ My son has loved all kinds of animals since he was a little kid. He told me that he wished this project had been around when he was a kid. Now he gets to study cicadas for real. He was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to study the periodical cicadas of New Zealand. Unfortunately, his trip was postponed due to Covid. If al goes well, he should be able to go next January.

Arctic Bunny
I can’t find anywhere on the site a map of what areas they’re found!
cintinative
This "expected" emergence area map is on the website for Cicada Safari @Arctic Bunny As far as emergence, I heard that they are just starting to see them here in SW Ohio this week. I haven't seen any yet.
