domestic_engineer
My kids want to see a presidential debate. In your opinion, what would be a good debate that demonstrates how a presidential debate is conducted? (Just name one and I'll search for it.) Farrar
Lincoln - Douglas, of course! But I don’t think they filmed those 🤷♀️😆

Ooh, did he? Because that's hilarious. They were raucous and loud at times, as I understand it. There were a series. And, yes, I know they weren't actually presidential debates. Catwoman
When I saw your thread title, I thought you were going to say that you thought tonight’s debate was the best Presidential debate, and I was waiting for the fireworks to begin! 😉

I’ve also enjoyed several VP debates more than top of ticket. I entirely disagree. That debate is when debates first started going down the rabbit-hole of being about pre-scripted quips and one-liners instead of being about substance. A terrible trend in politics that was capped off by tonight's shit-show. OP: For a real debate I'd look to the Kennedy-Nixon debates (might want to study up on Quemoy and Matsu if you're not of a "certain age" or a student of the period.).
