KungFuPanda
I love you. You are "home." Some of your people should not be allowed on social media. My family is there. I grew up and went to school there, but if I have to read one more wackadoo post about how a "hedge of protection" has kept the covid-19 from invading the mountain state I may not be able to hold back on the snark. PrincessMommy
I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry about this post. 🙂 I am sorry to hear that WV has its first case of COVID-19.

KungFuPanda
Just now, Æthelthryth the Texan said: What is a hedge of protection and where do I get one?!?! This is new. I don't know WHEN these hedges were planted. It's some sort of trendy church-speak that didn't exist when I lived there. So far I've seen t-shirts that say "Covid-19 National Champions: Social Distancing since 1863" and digs about how people shouldn't complain about empty shelves because they wanted socialism. People have marked themselves safe from overreacting to Covid-19. There are people who truly believe that everything is shut down due to irrational fear, and 'does anyone even know anyone who has it" and that everyone is falling for some big liberal media scam. Saying things like 'but Italy" and "you don't have tests yet" convinces no one. I'm just watching it play out on my feed and posting here to quench the urge. KungFuPanda
@Homeschool Mom in AZ OMG! That's hysterical. I think they planted these hedges after I left home. We didn't have them in the 80s. 🤣

I guess having White House urge group max of 10 and to stay home doesn’t help?
HS Mom in NC
It's a reference to the story of Job from the book of Job in the Old Testament. Job 1: 6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan[b] also came among them. 7 The Lord said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.” 8 And the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?” 9 Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for no reason? 10 Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.” 12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord. If you haven't read the book of Job, you probably won't get how contrary to the message it is that people use it as a way to pray that someone would avoid suffering. Not that that's a bad thing to pray for, it just doesn't fit with the context of the book of Job. The book of Job is about the suffering of a godly man who remains faithful to God even in his suffering.
