klmama Posted July 25, 2019 Share Posted July 25, 2019 It's the loveliest time in a cicada's life. A bit before this photo was taken, his wings were just little lumpy things and his body was huge. The fluids shift into the wings, the exoskeleton hardens, and the wings darken. We got the whole process on videotape when my oldest was little, as a cicada very graciously climbed a few feet up our clothesline pole to molt.  2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
