madteaparty
This is for 8 year old DD and her neighbor/classmate friend who are into this sort of thing. She just got the LEGO wedo set but has exactly zero scratch experience. DS used to like those YouthDigital classes, I haven’t looked in a long time. What’s good? Wheres Toto
There are a ton of online tutorials for Scratch. There are also many books available, although I would make sure they work with the current version. I wouldn't pay much for a Scratch class unless there was something else about it I wanted, like socialization. I run classes in Scratch Jr and Scratch, and the vast majority of the time I go over where things are and then most kids want to explore on their own, with me offering the occasional challenge for them to try. purpleowl
My girls have enjoyed the courses on Code.org, followed by just playing around on Scratch.
wathe
Mine mostly enjoyed leaning from a few books and just messing around. The got a lot out of copying code from a book then modifying it. They also took a few Scratch classes at our local library. They thought the books were better than the classes.
