Dmmetler
Does anyone have a child with this? I am working with a little boy who is showing symptoms. A sleep study is scheduled, but hasn’t happened yet.

Tap
DD12 had a narcolepsy sleep study when she was little. She would fall asleep at school all the time. Dr said it wasn't narcolepsy but that she had hypersomnolence instead. She is pretty much better now, but does have it built into her IEP at school that says she has the option to go take a nap whenever she wants. She will still do that a hand full of times a year, but not every day like when she was little.
Guest
This little guy both has periods where he just gets super tired due to mental exertion and times that he literally seems to fall asleep all at once, even mid sentence. But I’m also pretty sure that sometimes he pretends to fall asleep because he’s learned it’s a way to get out of unpleasant situations. Melissa in Australia
the elderly person I knew with it would just fall asleep in mid sentence- be asleep for a few minutes then resume the conversation exactly where she had left off. She didn't seem aware that she had been asleep. She had had it all her life
