History or culture of Asia or Japan?

My rising 8th grader would like to do some sort of focused Asia study next year. I know about Sonlight F. Are there any other options?

I'm considering an interest led 8th grade year before starting high school.

We cobbled together some great courses lectures, meaning individual lectures from the following courses: Foundations of Eastern Civilisation, a specific one on China and there is one on Japan we will do when we go there this summer. On China, there is a kids’ book but it was pretty great overall review and I learned a few things from it too!  And then there’s various documentaries, we watched Frontline’s “Tank Man” before visiting Tiananmen Square for example (using VPN, of course) and also there is much on the Vietnam (American) war.

This series is excellent. Don't be put off by the fact that it's a gn series. It's one of the best summaries of Chinese history I've seen by far.
