Ginevra
I have several areas in my yard with specialty daffodils. A few of them seriously need separating and had only a few blooms this year. I have already determined that I must separate them now, as the blooms fade (i.e. before the foliage dies away) because otherwise I can’t tell where the existing daffodils are and it is harder to find a good transplanting location. What I don’t know is if it is better to keep them out of the ground until fall or to directly transplant them to their new locations. Have you done this before? fairfarmhand
I think either will be fine. I'd probably go ahead and put them in the ground now.
Tanaqui
Daffodils are pretty resilient. Probably that's part of why they're so popular! I've never had trouble transplanting immediately in the spring.
mumto2
I would just do it now. Daffodils are really hardy and should be fine. Last spring Dh found a bag of bulbs in the garage that didn’t make it in the ground in the fall. They were far from perfect when I put them in the ground and some actually bloomed in June. This year they are just fine.
LuvToRead
I transplanted some a few years ago, I was not gentle with them, and they are doing well. I re-planted immediately.
