We often got Christmas gifts that were scout related: Jet Boil type backpack stove and pan Pocket Knives spoon, fork, knife all in one ENO hammock Day packs Nalgene Water bottles Scout socks (my boys seemed to go through them!) His current one is antique aluminum from dh's childhood. If I had budget for it I would get him also a super cool spork. And I don't know what some of these are so will have to look them up :D Regarding socks, are yours a part of the uniform? We don't have any specific sock requirements. Unless you mean a particular quality or brand. I probably should have added in the original post that we are in Australia. So our weather is quite warm. We use Christmas to our advantage, lol, for common sense gifts. What about a lensatic (not sure I spelled that right) compass? Tableware fits nicely into a stocking.
