regentrude
Would you count an Intro to Business class as Social Sciences?

EKS
When I have questions like this I look at what our local CC does. And when I looked this up I found that they do count it as a social science for their general ed requirements.
Lori D.
An elective. If several other business-related classes were also taken (Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, etc.), then that would make a nice separate section on the transcript, sort of like a high school minor. Example: BUSINESS COURSEWORK course . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . credit . . . grade Intro to Business . . . . . 1.0 . . . . A Entrepreneurship . . . . . 0.5 . . . . B Accounting 1 . . . . . . . . 0.5 . . . . A Accounting 2 . . . . . . . . 0.5 . . . . A total credit/GPA . . . . . . . . 2.5 . . . . . 3.800 I would guess you're trying to line up required credits for college admission? If so, Business is a separate college/dept. from Social Sciences at 4-year universities (and at our local CC). Social Sciences areas include: History, Geography, Anthropology, Archeology, Sociology, Political Science, and Philosophy, as well as: Religious Studies, Women's Studies, Gender Studies. Lori D.
Thanks - no, it's just the one class. Together with a mish mash of other practical arts electives That's what I was afraid of. :( Could that mish-mash be made into a sub-heading, to make it appear more cohesive than just "electives"? Example: CONSUMER and BUSINESS COURSEWORK: course . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . credit . . . grade Intro to Business . . . . . 1.00 . . A Personal Finance . . . . 0.25 . . B Home Economics . . . . 0.5 . . . A Health & Nutrition . . . . 0.5 . . . A Driver's Education . . . .0.25 . . .B total credit/GPA . . . . . . . . 2.5 . . . . . 3.800 Edited September 6, 2017 by Lori D.
Lori D.
Does the student have a Logic or a Worldviews course? Those would count as Social Studies, falling specifically under Philosophy...
MerryAtHope
I'd think it was an elective too. (It also wouldn't be a social science at our local CC).
maize
This site does include management and business studies among the social sciences, under economics: http://www.esrc.ac.uk/about-us/what-is-social-science/social-science-disciplines/
EKS
I didn't have an elective section in my student's subject-ordered transcript. If this were my student's transcript, assuming that the social science requirement had been met with more traditional courses, I'd put the class under social science, particularly if it was taken at a CC or something that also categorized it that way. I actually put a class called "Intro to Design" (which was more like an engineering class but was called a social science by the college for general ed purposes) in the social science column on my son's transcript, but he had also had world history, American history, and geography, so it was obviously also an elective.
