TABmom
I've decided that we are going to cover American History next year and I'd like to read some novels (read alouds or independent for my 5th grader) over the summer to ease into it or start us off interested in the topic. I'd love some good middle readers about Native Americans either early colonial times or earlier. Anyone have some suggestions? Thanks!
wathe
We liked The Birchbark House and its sequels. The AICL blog has a few best books by NA authors lists that might be useful

Tanaqui
Debbie Reese has a few booklists (on the right hand sidebar). I strongly suggest you check her website before taking any book recommended here - she has some scathing reviews which might make you reconsider some. (Not that have been posted already, I mean, I'm just looking ahead to the future.)
