Nicholas_mom
Anybody have suggestions for a biography of Shakespeare?
Chrysalis Academy
How in-depth does it need to be? We liked Diane Stanley's Bard of Avon, which is a nice, large-format picture book version, but with lots of info. A picture book for big kids, KWIM?
Nicholas_mom
That's what I wondering about the "The Bard of Avalon".....it's not too elementary schoolish age?
Chrysalis Academy
I find it completely appropriate for middle school. You can check out the sample on the amazon page I linked and see what you think. The writing is very small and there is plenty of it on each page. It doesn't feel babyish at all.
BrittanyM
I read Shakespeare: The World as Stage recently by Bill Bryson and I think it would be appropriate for middle school, it wasn't a difficult read and had a lot of interesting information about his life. HomeAgain
Many use it for younger kids (4th-5th), but I really like Shakespeare For Kids. The reading level is just right for middle school, it's packed with info, maps, photos, source documents, and has several activities for extensions.

While the activities are good for younger kids, the reading level is really at a higher level. When I've used these "for kids" books with youngers it has been as a read aloud, but for olders it's a solid reading level - I'd say upper middle grades/junior high?
