Sebastian (a lady)
I'm working through some curriculum to use for geography next year. I'm thinking of doing World Geography as a social studies credit and physical geography as an earth science credit. I'm not finding textbooks that I absolutely love for either course, so I'm toying with the idea of a less demanding spine and then adding in additional travelogues, memoirs, novels and histories. I'd be curious if anyone has done a high school level geography that they loved. I found a tremendous blog called Edible Geography that has intriguing pieces. For example, there was one on menus from LA restaurants and another on the history and process of fish stocking.

Alte Veste Academy
I'm all ears for more replies. Geography is a big favorite here. I will say that a subscription to The Economist has been a great investment for us in terms of current events and issues around the globe. Good fodder for debates at times too.
swimmermom3
Barb - Harmony Art Mom, has a high school course that she had designed. We really enjoyed David Greenhood's Mapping. It would make an excellent geography supplement. I don't suppose you are going to make your literature for English correspond to the geography, are you? swimmermom3
You could also use the Trail Guide to World Geography to build on. We used both guides years ago and enjoyed them. What exactly do you want to accomplish and on what level?

Pegasus
We really enjoyed the geography course we put together. It combined earth science with mapping and added in more cultural geography resources. Here is the description and resources we used: World Geography (1 credit) - This course provided an overview of the political, physical, and cultural aspects of world geography. Political groupings on each continent along with the major physical features were studied with an emphasis on map skills and the identification of major countries and bodies of water. Resources: Welcome to the Wonderful World of Geography by Brenda Runkle Material Word: A Global Portrait by Peter Menzel Hungry Planet: What the World Eats by Peter Menzel The Riddle of the Compass: The Invention that Changed the World by Amir Aczel Longitude: The True Story of a Lone Genius Who Solved the Greatest Scientific Problem of His Time by Dava Sobel The last book was made into a film in 2000, also worth watching.
Luckymama
Another good blog for geography stuff: http://www.scoop.it/t/geography-education/ Also check out the "Plaid Avenger" YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Plaidcast The first link is the best blog for current geography-related articles (popular and scholarly). I've been using it for two years. (I actually follow the author on twitter rather than checking the blog.)
Sebastian (a lady)
I found a resource for IB Geography, which has a number of special themes (Geography of Food and Health; Leisure, Sport and Tourism; Oceans and their Coastal Margins; etc) for geography. These might be good frameworks for geography study that cross physical and cultural geography. http://www.ibo.org/programmes/diploma-programme/curriculum/individuals-and-societies/geography/ I also found a physical geography textbook that I'm liking the looks of. Exploring Physical Geography http://www.amazon.com/Exploring-Physical-Geography-Stephen-Reynolds/dp/0078095166/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1454972163&sr=1-1&keywords=exploring+physical+geography
