Luckymama
New late August date, no more January! https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/register/dates-deadlines(scroll down)
MarkT
for AZ late August is a good date - kiddos all back to school by early-mid-August and the weather is hot anyways so one could spend a few weeks prepping.
Arcadia
The test prep centers here will be happy since summer test prep is good business to them. ETA: I do prefer Aug to Jan. End of summer is less stressful than after christmas break. Edited January 31, 2016 by Arcadia
JeanM
In theory, I kind of like the late-August idea. Having summer time to prep, getting scores in well before the early admission deadlines, etc. However, I'm concerned that it would mean fewer testing opportunities locally. The public schools here usually don't open until after labor day, so I'm guessing that they wouldn't offer a late-August date. So they wouldn't have either the August or the January date then. Sebastian (a lady)
I think I like this change. Many schools still have activities going on in the buildings, even during the summer. Test days are typically Saturdays, and tests are not held at every single school in a district, so they will probably be able to do the one test date, even if school hasn't started. It gives another test date before early decision/early action deadlines. The January may have been a date that not many people were signing up for. It's mostly too late for seniors to use for admissions. I'm not sure how many juniors are thinking about SAT and college applications at that point. The other change I'd personally love to see is moving the May testing date to the weekend after the AP exams, rather than right in the middle of the two weeks of AP tests. I'd also like to see a no kidding summer test date in the middle of July. But I'll take August.
Luckymama
I wish the May date was not in between the AP weeks!!!
Vida Winter
I love the change since we have had to stay in a hotel overnight to make sure we get to the test center on time (winter driving conditions, test center hours away).
JumpedIntoTheDeepEndFirst
I'd vote for a change to the May date-having it not coincide with AP exams seems advantageous for CB. Of course that could cause a drop in June testers (who probably feel it is too close to finals for many students).
jenn-
Although that is too far away for me to care about, thanks for reminding me to take a peek at the rest of them for this year. I think DD will be sitting for the June test as the May one is finals week for her college class.
