Changing Your Speech Habits

Does anyone know of a good site that explains step by step how to practice/learn to speak loudly, using your diaphragm?  I have a job that requires me to project my speaking voice and I'm tearing up my throat yet I'm still not loud enough.  I also suspect that my pitch is too high and not authoritative enough when I try to get loud.

Yes. If possible take some voice lessons and tell them it's for speaking not singing, although I can see them using some singing to help you understand how to use the diaphragm with speaking.

I'd also take a look on youtube. You might be able to pick up enough from there to help you save your vocal chords.

Here's a pamphlet from Toastmasters on "Tips for Adding Strength and Authority to Your Voice": http://www.toastmasters.org/~/media/B7D5C3F93FC3439589BCBF5DBF521132.ashx  I googled "how to project from the diaphragm" and found lots of websites and youtube videos.

The link didn't work but thanks for mentioning Toastmasters, I'd forgotten about them.  I'll poke around- they seem legit.

I did google the topic and was fairly overwhelmed so I was hoping for a site that someone here had had a good experience with.  So many of the how-to sites are written by gerbils.
