MrsWeasley
Anyone here have a violinist on a very tiny violin and live in Boston? We are visiting Boston and broke a violin string on a 1/10 size violin. I'm looking for a recommendation for a violin shop in the area that would sell an appropriate replacement set of strings, preferably somewhere that would restring it for me. Anyone have a place for me?
Squawky Acres
We highly recommend Johnson String Instruments for parts and excellent service. They are just outside of Boston, though. I'm sure there must be a good place right in the city. You might be able to call them to find out who they would recommend. I do know of one other store, but it's farther out on 495. Until it opened, we went to Johnson's.

YaelAldrich
There was some luthier in Harvard Sq many years ago. Don't know if he is still around or would be able to help, but I will throw it out there.
blondeviolin
Is it possible to order the string via amazon to your hotel? Restringing isn't as hard as it seems, even on the teeny ones.
Matryoshka
If you don't have a car, Johnson's is about a 15 min walk from the Eliot stop on the Green Line towards Riverside (D line). It'd be a bit of a hike if you don't have a car, but doable if you're desperate. :)
Squawky Acres
Amazon with 1 or 2-day shipping is also a good idea. Re-stringing is not difficult, and is routinely done by children (but probably not 1/10 violin-sized children).
