MinivanMom
I'm looking for a good anatomy reference. I'm wanting something that would be meaty for a middle schooler and could be used through high school. I've been looking at some of the DK books: DK Human Anatomy, DK The Human Body Book, & DK Complete Human Body. Does anyone have experience with any of these? It looks like the first is more on a middle school level, the second is more on a high school level, and the third is a pretty weighty reference. Any other suggestions for good anatomy books? Arcadia
My library has all three DK books you listed and the third is really a heavy book. So far my boys have been comfortable using the Campbell Biology textbook as reference for anatomy. If you want more in depth, Gray's Anatomy is another good reference and that can last you through pre-med. You can just go for an older used edition. Found this on archive.org Kaplan Anatomy Coloring Book. https://archive.org/details/teb12_118 Ellen McHenry has a nice free anatomy revision guide in pdf but I can't find the link now. I had already printed it. I'll look for the printout and update the title later. If you want me to check out the three DK books at the library, I could as I would be making a trip to the library within the week.
underthebridge
Despite the popularity of the name "Gray's Anatomy", the atlas of choice in medical schools is Netter's. Mine still smells like formaldehyde. http://www.amazon.com/Atlas-Human-Anatomy-Interactive-Ancillaries/dp/1455704180

Arcadia
Netter's even has a coloring book. What age is that for? Middle or high school? My youngest likes coloring and there are so many anatomy coloring books out there.
MinivanMom
I love the look of Netter's. That may be more than we want at this point, but the coloring book looks wonderful.

Reefgazer
Yes, I recommend Netter, along with the coloring book. Despite the popularity of the name "Gray's Anatomy", the atlas of choice in medical schools is Netter's. Mine still smells like formaldehyde. http://www.amazon.com/Atlas-Human-Anatomy-Interactive-Ancillaries/dp/1455704180

Arcadia
Arcadia, Thank you for posting the links to Ellen McHenry free Anatomy PDF guide and answer key. Can you please recommend a text to accompany this curricula? We are using Campbell Biology 3rd edition at home as we got that free from my library's free to take pile. http://www.amazon.com/Biology-Edition-Neil-A-Campbell/dp/0805319301 The libraries have the 8th, 9th or 10th edition in their teen reference as this book is a popular public school AP biology textbook. The DK books listed in OP's first post would work well too. If your library has a copy of the Miller Levine Biology (dragonfly or macaw edition, high school biology textbook) that can be used too. We have Focus on Life Science which is a middle school textbook. It is a nice middle school text but my boys sometimes can't find the information that they want to know there. ETA: Holt Life Science is another easy to follow middle school text.
