FO4UR
I'm working on a project, and need public domain photos to make it complete. I am positive that they exist (Niagara Falls, Washington Monument, Hoover Dam, Mount Everest, Taj Mahal, etc...). However, how do I know for sure that the image I find is, indeed, public domain? I want to post this project on my blog and put it up for sale as well. Thanks in advance for any help.
Erica in OR
I use http://pixabay.com for images that are public domain and need no attribution. Their home page has a brief description, plus a Q&A link that has further information on potential content/copyright issues. MaeFlowers
Photos on Wikipedia are usually public domain. If you click on the photo, it will take you to another page that describes usage rights.
73349
The US Geological Survey, NASA, and other government bodies' pictures are in the public domain. If you do a Google search for images, use the menus at the top--there's an option under Search Tools->Usage Rights.
The Girls' Mom
I typically use Wiki Commons or freeimages.com. FreeImages often just requests notification of the photographer of the use.
